insurance

Just to let all my fellow truck drivers know about your car insurance be careful what you tell them about the where abouts of your car my mate had his car stolen about a month ago the police found it in it’s useual state burnt out but the insurance company won’t pay out because when they asked him where the car was keep overnight he said in a garage which is in my driveway behind gates that are locked the only time it is left outside is when i am on a night away from home and it is left in the transport yard of where i work he parked it outside his house overnight as he was on an early start the next day when he came out to his car it was gone so he filled in the relivant insurance forms when the question came up where was the car parked when stolen he put outside his house but because he told the insurance company that i was kept in a garage behind locked gates and it was’nt his claim is nil and void it cost us enough in this industry paying for licences and now taco cards we can ill afford to be ripped of like this so be on your guard. :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

P.S. Still fighting tesco about being locked out of cabs will it ever end. :exclamation:

A similar thing happened to a mate of mine several years ago.

His car was stolen from a hotel car park when he was on holiday. When he claimed they said that the claim was null and void because the car was not in his garage. :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :unamused:

he lost about £5k on that. So don’t take your car on holiday with you guys and gals!!!

Basically don’t lie to insurers about anything, it’ll bite you in the bum if you do.

Loads of people tell their insurers they garage their car, when their garage is actually full of crap. But if it gets nicked…

Same with modifications, tell them about everything, i’ve given my insurer a big list!

these [zb] are taking the urine arnt they?
surely there isnt anybody who keeps their car in the
garage 365 nights a year. everyone takes holidays
or spends odd nights with friends.
looks like they have sussed out another way of
scaming their customers, as if they dont rob you enough
with their premiums :imp: :imp: :imp: :imp: :imp:

no but i think what did it was where he said

he said in a garage which is in my driveway behind gates that are locked the only time it is left outside is when i am on a night away from home and it is left in the transport yard of where i work

Had he said, occasionally it’s left in the street he would have been ok.

what dennisw1 said is right the question is a loaded one where do you keep your car at night answer in a garage WHEN I AM HOME he was at home and he did’nt it is just to show you how careful you have to be as for keeping a car in a garage overnight for 365 days i do but it is 10 feet wide and 33 feet long and 11 feet high but not everyone is this fortunate plus while i feel simpathy for him rember when they pay out your premiums go up :frowning:

this includes things like subs and amps even though they probably dont cover them. my policy states £300 maximum for stereos but if you claim and you havent declared the sub then they can avoid paying out

i will have that to do Dennis. the problem is i dont know what the mods are but they equate to and extra 47 BHP plus the other stuff like flamer kit :open_mouth:

Some of the highstreet insurers wont touch modified cars or charge you a fortune. the specialists normally give you a far better rate.

When i notified them of my John Cooper works kit, they simply asked what the horse power now was, they’re wearnt all that interested in what had actually been done to the engine.

i havent had any problems getting quotes but they have ranged from almost 3 grand all the way down to 1100. i am happy with that though considering the car
