Insurance is behind the times

What an old fashioned system where you have to swap details of the driver involved in an accident, he or she may give Mickey Mouse details or Duff Gen as they say in the milatary.
Some countries in Europe have the insurance details placed in the windscreen of the vehicle so when pulled over the police will know if you have insurance or not.
My theory, which may be very costly, but would would wipe out un-insured chancers, is to install in all vehicles the same system that the police use, an ANPR in your truck, car, motorbike, camper van.
When it beeps you can inform the police or the insurance firm of an un-insured driver, or follow them to immobile their vehicle. Failing that a system where the vehicle will not start without having insurance, the technolgy is there, it can be done, would you pay a higher premium to get this going or not?

Which of his threads do you place in 2nd and 3rd?

Pahahahahaha, oh my, pay more for my insurance so then I can do the job of the fuzz? Are you kidding me?

In future, I may as well use my truck as an ambulance too.

Nurse, toby has forgotten his meds again

i think the police have enough roadside ANPR cameras for the job, and there are lots of them probably some not obvious anpr cameras!

We pay enough in insurance as it is!

I’m 24 been driving 4 years have no points hold a class 1 (which IMO should count for something)

And I pay £130 a month on a 2.0 golf gti

Also I’ve never had a crash or had to claim.

£27 odd per month with co-op, but then again, I’m 53, all the licences held, etc

I know about adelaide, I’ve got to wait till next year to use them. They told me I’m better off waiting till I’m 25 then call back.

What I meant was how having lgv/PVC licences should count for something will all insurers.

Agreed, it should in a positive way, we needed a medical ,eye sight tests are more stringent, we also past a driving test to gain the entitlement to drive them, which involves motorway driving , and LGV licenses aren’t found in lucky bags

But using one or 2 of the comparison sites ,by changing your job description you can save , HGV drivers are considered more of a risk for some insurers, could be that their cars can be left parked on street for long periods or their work places are in high crime areas ? other than something along those lines i can’t see any real reason they should not reduce the insurance costs for us drivers

My insurance is higher as a LGV driver, if you put librarian in to the insurance search engine it is much cheaper.
Do they think we will fall asleep after a 15 hour day or night shift.

Thought about changing your car  maybe for a cheaper 1 to insure

will get my coat & tin hat

Before the golf I had a 1.2 corsa standard car nothing done to it.

I was paying just under £100 a month on that.

The green card seems to work well, especially the one I photographed today after I was reversed into, in Simpsons yard.

Uninsured drivers costs the insurance companies millions and therefore costs us higher premiums. I don’t know if any of Toby idea would work though.
Of course it’s a debatable point if the amount of uninsured driver were reduced that we’d see an equal reduction in our premiums.

An insurance disc in the window with expiry date and reg would be a good idea. No need for any more expense

ok but what if you have a bump in your car or truck
with an aggressive bunch of asians in a datsun
and its not your fault
what if they are to say the least reluctant to give you thier insurance details
will thier number plate be enough info
to give to your insurance company
