‘‘Just strap everything up then they have no excuse to rinse you.’’We all know the true agenda is just that, so why play into their hands by taking a chance.
It aint rocket science ffs, you’ll NEVER beat them, it only takes half an hour to an hour…AND you’re getting paid for it!
So just [zb] do it.![]()

Carryfasts latest obsession - stillages
Absolutely. It was similar loads to that shown in the OP’s example, safely stowed in stillages and them then roped to within an inch of their lives, was mostly what I carried on everything from a drop side flat,to curtain siders,to tilts and paid my wages doing it.Oh and luckily for me no need to sheet any of it.

Jeez H.
Do you ratchet strap all the heavy palletised loads you carry? I never see this happening anywhere with UK drivers, just a lot of fannying about with flimsy internals.
The internals were always the easy “look sir, i’ve tried” cop out, but now the DVSA/the police have started fining drivers even for that because they aren’t adequate (quite right really) it’s rendered even making the token effort a pointless exercise. You get fined either way.
If everything is to be ratchet strapped like on the continent thats not a problem drivers alone can sort out without refusing to do the job en masse, we need the support of our operators (for the equipment many don’t have) and the consigners (for the packaging & cooperation on site). And more box trailers for RDC back door - back door work.
Punchy Dan:
What a prat you really are ,it’s not about you and your driving to the load as you put it ,it’s about others and how they may drive that affects your actions and or then an innocent 3rd party being injured by your load for example ,as for the dcpc I know many old has been drivers that have been saved from paying fines in this modern world because they’ve been educated at dcpc courses to do things the modern way to keep their money in the pocket and not get picked up on stupid things .
I may be a prat but I’m no drama queen. Its about others and how they may drive that affects your actions? really? its called reading the road, its called defensive driving, its called anticipation. I cant remember the last time I had to slam all on. No 3rd party has ever been injured as a result of the condition of my load. The dcpc has changed nothing. Most driver still don’t’ understand the rules as has been proven by the dvsa pulling drivers recently and achieving record fined for silly infringements that really should not be happening any more.
Load security has become an obsession that few understand nor care about. It is very rare that you hear of loads coming through curtains and I mean very rare. If a trailer goes over then no matter what is holding it in becomes irrelevant because the recovery company will cut the curtains anyway as they can not right a fully laden trailer. The load needs removing first if it is heavy of course.
Drivers should start questioning these dcpc trainers and the dvsa, maybe try not rolling over and accepting the fine or what they say. Your call but I wont be taking it up the arse if I get stopped.

That’s what I’ve been saying all along, that it’s got the far end of f/all to do with safety really, (although a couple on here actually believe the b/s )
It’s just another way of them getting money out of you, with the added bonus of a few more loads strapped up better than they would have been now, so the safety thing is more of a by.product…a cynical view but an accurate one imo.
For years drivers (not including the d/heads btw) were strapping certain type loads in different ways accordinglly, those that were needed strapping efficientlly, and other types with fewer restraints, but that were as safe as they could be…ie driver discretion, horses for courses approach…(ok yeh the idiot car drivers with Class 1s ■■■■ ed the job, they were slipping them and losing one or two, but certainly not in epidemic proportions as some have swallowed.)
So next…not good enough, so we now need to go from sturdy shrink wrapped pallets cross at the back only, to every row internally strapped…but result is fewer fines, what can they do now to fix that??
Now it seems afaik (aint done it yet btw) that loads such as pallets of pop in plastic bottles for eg, tightly shrink wrapped now have to be ratcheted ffs.! internal every row now aint good enough. lol: …unreal eh.
So I don’t know how further they can go with it, …once they’ve made a financial killing up to everybody conforms they’ll surely go on to something else.
It’s a bit like H&S, yeh it was certainly needed in REAL genuine terms and cases…but good old UK went that step further, esulting in going from the ridiculous to the sublime. …with the all important generating and making a pot of money out of it
Again it’s really simple, the company should be buying XL rated trailers, when I was Googling some ■■■■ for this post 1 manufacturers said it was £6/700 more, no excuse, no need to strap most full palletised loads
And really, some dude reckons he can always 2nd guess everyone around him moves, some crazy ■■■■ right there
