Hi guys just wondering how much am I looking to spend (Roughly) for my initial driver CPC course 35 hours including the tests? Hope it’s not more than 350-400 range.
As I’m having my practical test on July the 18th. I thought about booking my CPC for the 19 th so I can carry on with searching for a job afterwards.
Your initial is not 35 hours plus tests.
The 35 hours is the periodic training - which is not tested
The initial is the Mod 2 theory test which you can self teach and the mod 4 is the practical test which any good trainer will prepare you for- should only be a few hours training.
If your paying 400 for Initial CPC then your paying to much
Passing mods 2 and 4 will get you a DQC which covers you for 5 years - during that 5 years you need 35 hours of periodic dcpc to cover you for the 5 years after that DQC expiry date
You have C at the moment so perhaps going for CE with a certain trainer on here might be an advantage as they give free mods 2 and 4 with that CE course
If you got your driving licence (Cat B) before 1997 you have to do 35 hrs periodic training in 7 blocks. Must be done before 09/2014.No tests, just class attendance. Prices vary alot.
If you got your driving licence past 1997 the following aplies to you.
Module 2 (case studies) 35£ which as said above you train yourself, book it at gov site.
Module 4 (practical demonstration) starting as low as 125£ which you’ll be trained for by your driving instructor.
Just a thought Dan but why hasn’t your Training provider explained this to you properly- they will know exactly what you need just by looking at your licence - don’t they include it in the quote?

I’m not the original poster but would just like something clarified, are you saying that with a pre 1997 driving licence I won’t need to do modules 2 and 4 at all?
I know I will need to complete the 35 hours periodic training. I hope to do my cat c as soon as possible but am unlikely to be driving commercially until after sep. how would the situation change if I failed to complete either my cat c or cpc prior to the September deadline?
I haven’t decided which trainer to use yet but am weighing up the pros and cons of going with either a local trainer or going further afield to somewhere that cpc training is included free with the cat c course.

are you saying that with a pre 1997 driving licence I won’t need to do modules 2 and 4 at all?
Correct - a pre 1997 UK car pass gave the driver a free LGV C1 - the important bit being … LGV
Having LGV on 09/09/2009 means the driver is in the LGV periodic system
For some reason many think LGV means C to CE but LGV includes C1 to CE so missing the C1 off is an error made by many and is probably because under the old HGV the HGV referred to vehicles over 7.5 tonnes GVW
To answer the original OP, we charge £300 to include online training for Mod 2, Mod 2 test, Mod 4 training, test and vehicle for test. All including VAT. £300. But, as ROG mentioned, we don’t charge when we do a full course.
Seems fair price Peter but You are based too far away for me to begin with, If you are in Peterborough and I’m in Oxford.
To make that clear if id go with You I’d have to add another £50 for fuel there and back which will total £350 not even mentioning the time id have to spend in the car to get there.
I’d probably go with the LGV training academy in Wantage which is only 7 miles away from Oxford and save on fuel.
