It is not cat C DCPC but LGV DCPC as it covers all LGV categories
It does not have to get done before the practical road drive test
You need firstly to pass LGV DCPC module 2 theory at the theory test centre then pass module 4 practical which is done at the practical test centre with the hire of a lorry and instructor
Much more info on all this contained within the link in my signature below
I am assuming you want LGV for commercial driving and not just private driving

For me this book covered everything I needed for CPC Module 2.
I recommend to read this and you are ready!
We have an offer of FREE driver cpc (either initial or periodic) with any full CAT C or CE driving course.
Total cost is just £1215 incl VAT, test fee, driver cpc and accommodation for the duration of the practical course if you’re more than 70 miles away.
Good way to save £400 +!
If you choose this option, quote your Trucknet user name at the time of booking.

Very odd as dcpc can be booked for any LGV category

Yes that makes sense.
The initial DCPC is for category C.
CE is a “C” with a trailer - so it’s a “C” category as there’s no CPC for a trailer.
C1 and C1E is a sub-category of C therefore it is a C category.
So I can see how the DVSA are thinking. The DCPC is just for category C and no need to list the C1 or CE although they then do list them all on the back of the DQC.
from what DVLA have said, i have to doe the cpc module 2 before i can do the practical test, the test is case studies, there does not seem to be anywhere online to practice this that i can find, just people saying buy dvds and books,
i did the cpc mod 2 after i passed my cat C so your good there and i just walked in off the street with my basic theory test knowledge which got me through (just) 42/50 some of the questions were a bit strange to say the least
Certain tests must be completed before others:
- CPC module 1a & 1b (theory & hazard) must be passed before you can take the practical driving test (CPC module 3).
- CPC module 2 case studies must be done before you can do CPC module 4.
It’s probably easier to do the 1a, 1b and 2 before you do the practical bits as sometimes you can do the practical stuff all on the same day.
