If your doing the man entries the same way every time are you waiting till you get the complete card symbol before moving off ?
If he’s doing manual entries then he must already have the complete card symbol showing - The tacho head won’t give you the option of manual entry input until it has fully accepted the card.

When you put the card in it’ll ask man entry. Click ok.
Continue to do entrys and at the end you still have to wait for the card symbol to be completed before you move. I’ve just this minute done it.
Nobody has told me I should be manually adding other work or my daily rest. Omg I’ve been driving since beginning of September like this. I must have dozens of infringements! Nobody told me anything and how am I supposed to know this?

Legally all work done should be entered into the tacho head but most of the time as long as you are keeping to your hours then you’re fine. If you only get an infringment if you exceed the allowed hours. Once you pull your card then nothing else is counted by the tacho. That is why it asks you for a manual entry when you next insert it. I always do a manual entry when I start but thats only to tell the unit what time the previous shift finished and what time I started the new shift.

Thanks for all the replies guys, so from what everyone is saying I am doing everything perfectly right and not being a ■■■■■■. Well evil before you take the ■■■■ can you get your facts right uct or utc? the vehicles are all new so 13 plate onwards, so like someone has said tacho doesn’t ask for end shift it asks you to account for all the time your cards not in the tacho. I will ask the guy im with tomorrow to do both manual entries in front of me or I will do them and get him to watch me and let him explain what he thinks I’m doing wrong because I am doing everything correct and I just think the tacho was just playing up. As I had say 3 or 4 wtd infringements for this over the 10 weeks I have been here so why have I only got that many if I always [zb] up my manual entries lol!!!
One version of the Siemans VDO actually does specifically ask when you last finshed your previous shift.

What if the previous shift was a few days before? I have not noticed it asking me to do a manual entry. Anyway, thanks for the tips etc.

Do you just insert your card then leave it? If so then you won’t of seen that is asks you if you want to input a manual entry. When entering data manually I always use the ? symbol from when my previous shift ended and to when I’m supposed to start the new one. I believe it stands for “Time unaccounted for away from vehicle”. VOSA treat that as a daily and/or weekly rest periods.
So funnily enough I was out with the driver trainer yesterday as he is a driver as well. I told him what the boss has said and asked him to watch my do a manual entry, funnily enough I did it exactly right so I don’t know what the boss is talking about.

The boss can surely show you a printout or report which identifies the alleged infringements? Without them we could guess at any number of things that you might have done incorrectly. Has he actually asked you to formally acknowledge any infringements?

When you insert your card, the tachograph gives you the welcome screen and tells you the time/date the card was ejected, then it asks you if you want to make a manual entry. It does this every time you insert it, regardless of whether the card was last ejected 5 minutes, five hours, five days or five weeks ago. The only time it doesn’t ask you if you want to make a manual entry is if you have literally only just ejected it (e.g. when changing from Slot 2 to Slot 1 when double-manning, or when hopping from one vehicle to another).
