Well in my experience agencies are generally liars, idiots and two-faced with it all.

did u not know the difference between concrete’s this is genuine question m8,as i thought concrete is concrete, all does the same job
don’t it[/quote]
Oh no, it doesn’t. Been a bricklayer I know there is concrete and then there’s concrete…oh, and then there’s mortar. But unless you’ve got the concrete with pebbles in it and the size of them might point you in some direction to it’s use, I wouldn’t be able to tell what a particular load of concrete was for. Concrete is big science. Lots depending on temperature, humidity, weight, etc etc.

Driving is not my full time job but have being doing casual and agency driving for over ten years.
One night as I was finishing a shift for one of the large department stores just about Christmas time (there was a lot of hire units in at the time).
I noticed one of their more “experienced” drivers was walking up to an FL10 with a bucket of water, he tells me that thats the fourth bucket of water he’s put in the header tank.
I tell him “no thats the fourth bucket of water you have just put in the engine sump.”
I get my torch out and we follow the goose neck down into the sump, on the FL10 you had to tip the cab to fill the header tank.
The experienced driver was only experinced in ERF’s.
I couldn’t begin to remember the amount of times as an agency driver I have had to ask where the dipstick or a certain filler cap or how to get the grill up when I’ve been faced with a new type of unit.
one of the new drivers ages ago was doing my oppo’s run … the truck in question was an iveco cursor draw bar , the rest of the trucks were man tga 410 arctics ( this detail will become clear in a moment)
on his return he decided to put oil in … fair enough …
driver: chucked some oil in for you
me : tip the cab and fumble around the engine alright then …
driver: what , what you on about i put it in through the front
me : the front of what
driver : the filler at the front
me : ■■■■■■■ hell theres only two fillers at the front , one is coolant one is the washer reservoir …
went out to check and sure enough press the windscreen washers and some kind of watery oily gunk attempted to come out
and this one this is total inexperience and dangerous
new driver(recent test pass) in an arctic and with some new drivers he tended to really screw it round , really screw it round … anyway turns out on one of his attempts to make the unit touch the trailer his airline split …
easy job we carry spares. did he change it … no
took him 4 hours to get from cambridge to castle donnington because every time he turned right the line opened up and he dropped his air
unbeleivable
funny story , this time an experienced driver ( my oppo)
reversing in the early hours to drop a draw bar trailer off , the mirrors were apparently covered in muck and he couldnt see very well . so rather than just drop the window he opened the door whilst reversing and leaned out and promptly fell out … thus resulting in driver chasing after reversing truck lucky bugger got away with no injurys or accidents … can you imagine the accident form if it had hit anything
could have gone a lot worse though
Brilliant !!!
Isn’t it great to read about other people’s mistakes ?
