I’ve been reading similar ,only with a 2 & a half day induction :open_mouth: with I assume to be an agency , maybe for a company , I don’t know, but they didn’t seem to give much information away   They did say however it was with pay!!! :open_mouth: Has anyone else come across this sort of induction thing… :bulb: :bulb: can anyone shed any further light on what & how it all works please

Some agency inductions you get paid for and some you don’t.

Last one i had was Asda at Bedford, about 4 hours going through stuff and a short driving test, the instructors were full time drivers and sound blokes, listen and they’ll put you right.
After induction was sent out on fairly short two drop run and paid for all hours worked.

Some other places the assessors can be anything from decent sticks who use their loaves and common sense when judging recruits.
Whilst at the other extreme some are pedantic plonkers who’ll fail a first class old school driver of 40 years full time experience for missing a box tick, meanwhile they’ll pass half wits who tick every box but couldn’t find there way home on a wet wednesday.

The assessor will pay particular attention to how you pour coffee on the move, its very important to time your gearchanges so that you have time to put your flask back down enableing a properly timed change.

Thanks for the insight on the driving part, which can be expected  , but what else will they be doing that’s going to last two & half days  :sunglasses:

That sounds like the job is permanent as against a temp agency role, possibly the extended time to train the driver in the use of the on board computers and other spy or monitoring stuff, possible specialised trailers, handling or securing equipment, maybe a day out with a trainer accompanying to make sure the driving is up to company standads and to ensure correct procedures at customer premises.

I should imagine it’ll be loads of H&S and loads about company procedures, what forms to fill out and when to fill them out.

Load of bullshine.

I did a 10 hour induction at Sainsburys Hoddesdon! Mostly procedures on site i.e how to fuel up/Ad Blue the wagon use the on site truckwash, location of canteen/smoking areas etc
Never used the facilities after as we were clocked in and out the gate and were paid on these times!

If one of these induction s via agency, does that mean you have definately got the job, or do they just pick out who suits them, or do they train futher those who have attended, as they will seemingly be paid anyway :sunglasses:
As muckles says , H&S is costantly there with rules & regs, more pen & ink form filling too
Sounds like I could put up with all that dessy if they’re paying,
I reckon I’ll have a another look for that advert

If they’re paying anyway, it makes good sense to me to go through with the inductions.

One, you’re not doing any graft whilst still being paid.

Two, without the induction you have no chance of the job whatsoever, if more than 2.5 days involved the job sounds very specialised, so if someone’s prepared to train you and pay you for the privelidge, ■■■■■■ their hands off.

Just double check to make sure you are being paid and this isn’t just another agency adding numbers to woo clients and lying through its teeth…in other words behaving normally.

Yes, it does seem like a good idea, & every bit of experience helps :sunglasses:. & to be paid for it too, & with the prospect of a permenant job…which would be great,
