Indicator Bulb Out!

surely anyone reading this pish without shaking there head and saying to themselves, what is the world coming to when drivers don’t just change a bulb,or nick one from somewhere else and just get on with it instead of making a meal of it,can not in any way consider themselves to be a normal driver/hairy assed truckie in the normal sense of the word…ffs catch a grip. though to be fair to the bean counters amongs us.i had the misfortune to work for Tosco for a while and a bulb out,was a vor etc .workingfor companies like that is an insult to your intelligence, and just too demeaning for normal truckie/tramper drivers.

Our shunters will normally change a bulb but I do keep some spare ones in my kit bag with various tools do undo the covers as this could save me time and generally just makes things more easy for shunters and other people such as warehouse lads who’ll then have to tranship the load.

your firm tranships loads if a bulb is out

Only as a last resort if for some reason it couldn’t be fixed, none of our drivers would take it anyway.

what a sad state of affairs. My first Job (bear in mind im new generation of 6 years only) would of been a bollocking if i defected a light bulb... We carried a full tool kit, bulbs, pipes, connectors and mechanics where rarely called out, OUr motto was get it back to yard if possible. got an air leak god forbid cut the ■■■■ pipe a re-route it. Seized brake on trailer? bang a drum screw in it and wind break off till back at yard. My favorite was a blown airbag at 4AM in a field in suffolk 140 miles from base but ill not go into details there :smiling_imp:

Im not ashamed i now work for the dreaded green ZBs but id never ever defect a unit trailer for a bulb like most do… I`ve got a DKV for anything work related it need

EE pal of mine broke a gearbox out in the wilds of Russia, company sent a bloke & a van out from Czec with a spare & they spent a couple of days on the side of the road on their backs with blocks of wood & trolly jacks & changed it!

Hooked up to a trailer at 05.00 this morning, did my checks & found the n/s indicator not working, Balls I thought (no fitters until 07.30 & no bulbs in the office !!!) so I took the cover off & there was No Bulb in the holder ! (Durrrr)

1st of all I was p1ssed off if it hadn’t been reported the afternoon before (might have blown when I connected it) but secondly I was doubly P1ssed off because I’m pretty sure that the Night Time Fairies don’t wander around with screwdrivers, with the intention of Nicking Single Indicator Bulbs then putting the lens cover back on to cover their tracks.

I solved the problem by nicking the reversing light bulb.

We’ve got some Right Numpties working for us, next time I might park up & wait for the fitters to come in then miss my 08.00 time slot in Warrington or wherever I might be tipping.

Grrrrr.

No fitters No bulbs in the office, don`t you carry any SPARES IN YOUR CAB what do you do if you have bulb failures whilst out on the road ■■

Yea, I carry some for Viking Emergency’s but I’m not going to supply the company if the management don’t give a Flying ‘F’

Our resident fitter has a unit in our yard but is not employed directly by the company & he won’t even give me a few spare bulbs (even if I write out a defect for them, so he can invoice the company) he makes too much money changing the odd bulb so doesn’t like us doing it.
Out TM won’t listen/doesn’t communicate, I send him emails every now & again, so when the smelly stuff hits the fan, it’s all recorded. I’ve had enough of asking him for bulbs, he just tells me to ask the fitter for bulbs but the fitter just refuses- Catch 22, they need their ‘F’ ing heads banging together, especially as it’s getting wetter & darker now.

That’s what Peeed me off most ! No Bulb !

No wonder my bloody work bag is so heavy with the crap I carry in it, everything from spare fuses, bulbs, screwdriver kit, tie wraps, a couple of curtain straps (pigtails) the odd spanner or two, anything and everything to make my life easier as a scumbag agency driver. Most of the spares have been accumulated over the years, If a bulb goes, instead of picking 1 up from the office when theyre available Ill pick up two and replenish my stock.

If Switchlogic made his vids more practical and informative he could maybe get the same views - actually I think it’s quite sweet the way she thinks everyone’s watching keen to pick up trucking tips

OAD, no one can be that naive.
