Would someone who is more clued up on this please help me out.
Had a booking and on the phone the girl told me that it was a ‘minimum of £10ph’ on a day shift, payslip arrived and guess what it shows £9.50ph. I’ve sent her an email asking to explain the discrepancy. I believe I should be paid what was quoted. Also on Friday I had a call from her again confirming me for the folowing week, so turned down other work. She then called me on Sunday and cancelled the assignment. How do I stand on this matter, always thought that even a verbal contract (which I believe this was) can be enforced. Lost a few days work so wouldn’t mind getting something from this agency.
All help welcome.
All I can suggest is that you get any agency to E-MAIL you with any bookings and the rate(s) for those bookings
ROG, from now on this and other agencys will have to confirm by text/email, depending on the time they call before I work for them.
As far as the rate is concerned the issue is it’s your word against theirs unless you for some reason taped the phone call so personally I would have a bit of a moan at them about it and then leave it at that unless it’s something that starts to happen a lot. If they have work then you don’t want to upset them too much as work at 50p less than they said is a lot better than no work at all…
As for the work being cancelled thing, that’s life with agency work and being cancelled sometimes at very short notice is just one of those things. There’s not a lot you can do about it.

Work being cancelled is part of agency life I’m afraid, when I was on agency they always tried to find me other work on the odd occasion that the job was cancelled.
You have to remember that the agency is at the mercy of the client so if the client cancels a job the agency has no option but to cancel it with you.
As far as the rates are concerned you should be paid what you were promised and if you have a good understanding with an agency you regularly work for then they will usually pay what they promised.
I wouldn’t have thought it was worth you taking legal action over the discrepancy which I assume is for one day so only 4 to 7 pounds lost and you need them more than they need you so.
Some times agency work ■■■■■ doesn’t it
so how did she explain the discrepancy.
