Income protection for lorry drivers

Wondering if anybody can help, iam looking to grt income protection but most companys wont take me on cos of my job, does anybody know of any specialist companys for lorry drivers.

I was going to get some through the Nationwide Building Society. But to get anything like a useful amount payed out every month, you have to pay a huge amount in every month.

BEing self employed, its offsettable against tax and isn’t anymore frightening than £50 a week NI deductions on PAYE which’ll only get you £56 a week SSP.

There used to be a scheme for protecting your licence and getting a wage if you lost it through medical reasons

I am beginning to disbelieve insurance i was on holiday recently had cash, passports (5) digital camera , prescription sunglasses and a small amount of cahs and guess what !!! i am not covered for recovery unless it is recovered when im on holiday how ■■■■■■■ stupid does it get…

Just make sure if you do take out any insurance you read the policy well not like me.

As I’ve stated elsewhere I don’t trust banks or insurance companies and use them only when forced.
Many years ago with a mate I started to drive to Spain on holiday but half way through France my car (the 38 Packard) broke down in a fairly serious manner and I called up the AA. Their 5 star service was supposed to enable us to continue the trip by other means and have the car recovered to England. Guess what, the small print said we had to pay for the trip ourselves and reclaim later.
Being practically penniless we had to hitch hike back home. End of holiday.

Salut, David.
