In line with Europe

My idea is to keep a computer database of every truck entering the uk at ports/railway stations etc…take the mileage reading when they enter the country and take the mileage when they leave and charge accordingly not excessive amounts just enough to ensure that we are on a level playing field

That idea is fine but that same mileage charge would still have to be applied to UK trucks, and unless the Government somehow gave that back to UK hauliers by means of a reduction in RFL or fuel duty, it would still cost UK hauliers so the playing field would be no more level than before.
