In cab safety camera

Looking into the idea of purchasing an In cab safety camera
So many on the market not sure which one to get
Would prefer one that films continuous, only seen ones that filming
In 2,5 and 10 mins … ta

Some being fitted at work that when theres any inpact do a 360 spin ,they dont film the driver all the time just when theres a prang so it makes sure you havent nodded off and whats gone off around the cab ,supposed to be the dogs but not exspensive

I bought a transcend camera, best rated in what car mag. It don’t spin at a collision but you can link it to your phone and down load clips easy. Cost me £80 off eBay. Good quality to get them numberplates too

They all film continuously in a loop, in 2/5/10 minute segments (or ‘clips’) but the clips are seamless which results in a continuous video…the length of the film before it ‘loops’ is determined by your choice of SD card, 8gb, 16gb or 32gb, you can even get a 64gb card. An 8gb card will give about 1 hour of filming before it loops and continues recording over the oldest clips.

the ‘forward facing cameras’ we have in our cabs sit there doing nothing, minding their own business…until you brake sharply,or hit something…then it automatically has recorded the previous 30 seconds, and the 30 seconds after the sudden braking…basically to record the insurance fraudsters who reverse into you and claim you ran into them.

What’s it like with nightime images?

I have 2 single lens and not good as they dont show the area of your bumper.
Dual lens will be by sure better for self protection,i think.

It’s good mate. Search you tube for transcend and you will see. Loads of clips
Does me and it did not cost the earth
With my old company we had blackview which cost more, recorded speed tho.
But picture was shocking.
You could not see number plates

Sorry I bought mine from amazon, the prices change weekly so wait for a low price and buy.

If you have an old android device, you can get an app called DailyRoads Voyager to do the same job

I’ve had apps before and the quality is generally good but the battery drain is too high and either you can’t use your phone or nothing records if you do.
I’ve had a cheap camera for a long time now and although never needed it’s never had the quality to pick up reg numbers or record very good images in the dark.
Thanks for that Brucey - heading over to you tube now. Most of these cameras are around £90 so a little more justifyable than spending £250+

No worries mate, I only have. 16gb card but it seems to be enough for few days recording .

It arrived today and all seems good. The wifi feature is smart and the quality looks good. My only problem is media player won’t play the files. (I suspect it’s more of an issue with my PC than the camera.)

I have only played them back thru my phone. (Iphone) don’t know what the android phones are like? Oh yeah you need to download there app to work with camera.
