In cab camera

One of the guys at work doesn’t really like me and he falsely reported me seeing me smoking in the cab. While I did not smoke that particular day I might have had a quick one a week ago because I was overstressed because of domestic problems. Is transport manager allowed to analyse footage retroactively? In the employee handbook it states footage is analysed only before &after incident.

they say that at my place of work too, and they have sacked drivers through it.

If he’s the authorised person, and the footage is available (he may have to request it if its uploaded to and held by the camera maker) then of course he can view it, who’s watching the watchers.

If you definately didn’t smoke that day don’t worry about it, let the TM spend hours trawling through the day’s footage only to see bugger all except you ■■■■■■■ and picking your nose, if he finds nothing that day unless he’s likely to find you chain smoking other days, and if you really did have just the one the chances of a uk transport office equivalent of the CIA at Langley spotting you are slim indeed, probably find the bloody thing isn’t working anyway or the frottage  is unreadable.

However, you are working under close surveillance, and if you wish to constinue working there…i wouldn’t…i wouldn’t be putting myself at risk of dismissal i were you, i would however be looking elsewhere for a job, not because i think its a good idea to smoke but because no one should have to work under such close personal surveillance unless they choose to, course if you don’t mind have a camera on your constantly by all means carry on.
Should declare i’m not a smoker and detest the smell, hate it when i have to drive a vehicle thats been smoked in, no i wouldn’t grass 'em up but they’d be getting their ear bent.

On the buses you were allowed only to view footage a limited time either side of a report. If that report had the wrong time, tough, it got missed providing it was outside the window for viewing. It was also fully audited with paper trail and only allowed to be viewed by approved individuals.

In reality though an event could just be made up to coincide…

Absolutely.
Nothing against smokers, many of my mates are so, but as long as they (or anybody else ) do not smoke in my truck car or house, that’s fair enough I reckon.
Most of them have better manners to know better, it’s just the pig ■■■■ ignorant types who think nothing of it. :imp:
Love the ones who think they can not be found out by leaving window open and /or squirting cheap ■■■■ air freshener around the cab afterwards :unamused:
