I’m thinking of something along the lines of this: does everything the Roadhawk does but much higher resolution (1080p) and a fraction of the price: youtube.com/watch?v=r4rwMV7hhaY
There’s others that claim similar performance and are cheaper still. Only drawback is ordering from China via ebay, etc but I’ve never had any problems with other things I’ve bought from HK/CN in the past.
I use an app for the iPhone called Witness. Works a treat, includes GPS, speed and maps.
I bought (this)
very pleased, does job fine.

I’ve got that exact same one, but found the quality was ■■■■■ IMHO.
Not tried it in the truck or car, just about the house and didn’t rate it, but it’s got motion detect and will record several files of a set size then start recording over them if the button to save isn’t pressed (I believe). Mine’s got a 32 gig card in so will store quite a bit.
Not sure how the IR night vision would work through a windscreen?
night vision isnt that good, but its good enough to determine other vehicles positions etc. Daytime quality is perfectly acceptable.
Those who are using their phones as dashcams, which windscreen mount are you using? I have two suction style mounts, but neither give me a very good view of the road, the mount always gets in the way.
edit: never mind, none of the Android dash cam apps work for me anyway…
Nice app shame you cant run it in the background though

Just a bit, goes to show it can work both ways.
