its my own fault, I should have known better! never trust an agency
ok, things have been going well for me on the new job doing night trunks. so well in fact that ALREADY they want me to do temp to perm, 13 weeks on the agency and then on to their books. in fact they are even prepared to put me through class 1 at their expense after Xmas as long as I sign to stay with them for a minimum of 2 years!!!
I’m not going anywhere! I love it here!
so I was upset when the agency rang today to give me my work for next week. it is that original job on the 18 tonner that is nights out all week.
I said that I thought I was on the night trunk job, and was told that job is finished?
I came in tonight and spoke to the gaffer and as far as he knows I will be here.
now I am feeling betrayed and ripped off. do I go to the other job, or do I come to work as arranged? is it up to me and DHL? or is it up to the agency?
can I finish with the agency now and go straight to the company? I was told that if I do that the agency bill the company for thousands. the manager says he will sort it out but I don’t think there is anyone at the agency until Monday and that will be too late.
what should I do? I don’t want to lose this chance.
It’s a tough one.
One thing stands out though.
You should not show any loyalty to the scumbags we know as ‘agencies’.
If the TM says he can sort it then get yourself in with him and let the agency and TM fight it out over the charges.
I’d be inclined to ask the agency on what grounds are they telling you the job is finished. Listen to whatever bull they tell you and then tell them very firmly that as far as the TM of the firm is concerned you are still required there and therefore will be returning next week.
Get the TM to contact the agency and tell them that he requires you. The company will be paying the agency plenty of money for you which gives them the right to dictate to the agency who they want to drive for them.
This appears to be the agency can’t get anybody to do the original job so they’re trying it on with you again. Good luck with it but stick to your guns.

either that or the agency are trying to get out of the temp to perm contract. chances are they will tell the TM that you are unavailable due to “other prebooked commitments”/holiday/sick, no longer with them.* (delete as applicable)
personally i would tell the agency to ■■■■ off and just arrange with the TM to go direct with this co. as it seems you have landed squarely on your feet with them.
Im with everyone else on this , tell the tm that if he wants you you will be in for them then let the tm sort with the agency , the agency will back down to the company as they want to be able to place more guys there , you have been offered a fantastic opportunity with this company all the boxes are ticked , you like it there , they like you and have offered you a brilliant deal to stay with them , (job security) they are not going to train u up to drop you so you know will have a perm job till after xmas ,at the very least , agency will not want to upset a customer after all they make money from them as well as u
good luck tell us what happens
You should always be able to contact an agency 24/7 as driver s or customers need to get hold of them
hi all
I had a hell of a night last night! had to get towed off the yard cos I got stuck good n proper!!! I didn’t feel too much of a pillock tho, I was not the only one to do it
lol
the phone number the agency gave me just got the office but the tm had another number and got hold of them straight away. I am back on the night job for good, the girl from the agency phoned me (on withheld) she did not sound very happy and I got the impression she was talking through gritted teeth
lol
I guess I’m off their Xmas card list, lol, fine by me! I know the rules about naming companies and wouldn’t want to get tnuk into any hot water, but… if you are thinking of working for an agency and it rhymes with “fight your laugh” I would look elsewhere, they are cowboys. I think they were trying to pull me off a nice secure number because they had a job that everyone had turned down and they probably wanted to put one of their “golden boys” in there. my tm was told I was not available, which is bs, because I had already agreed that I was staying. I’ve got an inckling that one particular agency won’t be top of the list for workers anymore. all I can say is that’s no more than they deserve.
its great to read on here about so many people getting work, especially the newbies
its good to see things looking up for so many of us
its just a shame that we have to resort to agencies, I guess that I’ve been in the job a long while and I remember the better times. keep on truckin

Well done mate, glad it worked out okay for you.
You have learned a valuable lesson about agencies as a result of this. They don’t give a ■■■■ about you or your welfare and will lie and cheat you every opportunity they get. It’s good you’re now sorted to doing what’s important and that is “what you want”. Keep the TM on your side and you’ll be set up for a good future.

…and I hope others reading this will also learn a valuable lesson.
Here is a picture of some parasitic worms, or as we like to call them, “agencies”.

Avoid at all costs.
