Improving prospects at end of the year

I erm, “have a friend”, that has been “working away” for a few years and is due to be on the lookout for class 2 work around Tewkesbury or Worcester at the end of November or into December.
What i would like to ask is, is his period of “working away” going to cause massive issues with trying to gain employment? And is there anything he can do to help improve being able to make himself a better candidate for any jobs?

Clean class 2 licence held since 2009, with cpc refreshed at the start of this year.

For just over the past year he has been working for a recycling company and gained experience in driving tankers, tippers, hook loaders, skip trucks, and dust carts. All the usual of handling cash, fuel card, key holder, and even gaining employee of the month, the little brown noser :unamused:

Same story as most blokes really. Need to be working as much as possible, and earning as much as possible to pay for kids etc. Willing to even do a few nights out each week if needed. Strong work ethic and good with customers.
Basically a decent bloke that had a major bump in the road, that needs, and wants to get life back on track.

Although I do not condone out and out lying, a little bit of creativity can go a long way.

Just tell your “friend” to say he’s been working for a firm that has gone bust. There’s usually plenty about and they don’t have to be in the same area.

No way of checking up then.

My mate got put away for breaking into local b&q and robbing 30,000 out of safe ( his Mrs at time was manager so had inside info ) ,only got caught as they had no idea who it was as he left chisel behind with barcode on it , traced it to wicks ,found out day etc and who was walking down gangway ,my mate ,30000 was in garden
N.b this was all reported in grantham journal with pic of him buying chisel .
Anyway I think he got out year ago ,haven’t seen him other than council driver shouting at me across road ,it was him .
So it is possible to get a job

If your ‘friend’ has a chequered or perhaps questionable past, he would be ideal material to become a recruitment consultant.

If he’s been working for the last year then he should have a good work record I would say, and should be able to move on up.

His misses works in B&Q, he stole from B&Q yet he bought the chisel to do it from Wicks. If ever there was an indictment of B&Q chisels this is it.

I’m just amazed to discover that you could open a safe with a chisel bought from Wickes, the only chisel I ever bought from Wickes wasn’t up to five minutes of shaping a piece of soft wood before the handle fell off. :stuck_out_tongue:

A bad workman always blames his tools

I look at things suspiciously sometimes
The missus who worked in B&Q bubbled him probably after dropping enough hints how easy it would be …the divorce went straight through after that and the reward for his capture would have set her up nicely for a holiday with her new man who was assistant manager!

(Not that I am bitter an twisted about my ex at all ).

All part of the resettlement process for long term sentences mate. Taking advantage of everything thats on offer to help get life back on track. Some days its driving up to 4 different trucks, and varying roles. Only time that became an issue was when he was on a vac tanker and he accidently had it on blow instead of ■■■■, and made a big mess on the gypsy camp he was at!!! :astonished:

This company wants to continue employment once the time is served, but they understand the need for being closer to children so will provide a glowing reference when needed. As long as he has no more mishaps

Shouldn’t hold you back mate. I “worked away” for a couple of years and had a job same week I “arrived” back and now work for one of the biggest haulage companies in the UK. I was just honest and told them. Luckily they didn’t ask what I did but hey. Just keep trying mate. Someone will say yes. Honesty is the best policy in this situation. You can start work without any worry if your employer will find out. Good luck.

He could work for CAFCAS. My Brother In Law reliably informs me that if you believe his ex wife they’ll give you a job.
What was the OP mate done for? I can’t think Loomis would be too enthusiastic but if he’s committed fraud or ■■■■■■ deviance he could become a teacher at a private school.
