Driveroneuk:
How much is it over there now? Not been for over 10 years
OK I’ll answer my own question then:
As of February 21st 2012 Euro 1.56 = £1.30
I see Lux is still the cheapest.

You guys are way behind the times,
the “bandits” now own the actual petrol stations THEMSELVES
They trade under legit “foodstore” names and even the well known family names from South Armagh run stations in “hardline loyalist” Shankill Rd and East Belfast
Funny that they lift a load of legal derv out of Belfast docks and drive it all the way to South Armagh only to bring THREE loads of it back up to their “legit” stations dotted around Belfast/Co.Down/Co.Antrim etc etc.
Big Truck:
You guys are way behind the times,
that’s right. we did get talking about how it used to be.
them days are gone for good. so venezuella it is.
If you went to saudi arabia today, you can buy derv at the pumps for 5 pence per liter.
has anyone ever thort of running a truck on hydrogen, you can generate it yourself from water,
a lot cheaper than “importing diesel” wouldnt you say ?

it’s been done, but not on hydrogen alone.
it was a standard diesel, with a hydrogen generator, the hydrogen went to the air intake and it increased efficiency.
the problem with running any vehicle on hydrogen alone, is the fact that it is impossible to store it. the molecules are so small, they can penetrate anything. therefore whatever you put it in, it will leak.
my be its time to look at it again, but in faver with the trucking business in mind with the price of fuel todate,

Maybe that explains what happened to ze Hindenburg airship because ze Germans didn’t know zat.
It also takes more electricity to get it from the water than the energy the amount of hydrogen you’ll get contains.Or they’d be running power stations on the hydrogen contained in seawater by using some of the electricity they generated with it to make more hydrogen.

Not true, we’ve tried it on a Sprinter van & with two small hydrogen generators it enhances the performance of the van to the extent that fuel consumption drops by almost 10% & it climbed motorway hils like M62 eastbound @ max speed without pressing the accelerator any harder than on the flat.
