Illegal in what respect though? I’m honestly curious as to which laws would be broken by merely transferring people escaping tyranny to Rwanda. If it’s some sort of global law then yes, it certainly needs addressing. If it’s a European law then surely we can simply disregard it?
Once again I’m not arguing that it has been mishandled to an epic proportion, but it should really be quite simple.
It was the Home Office themselves who suggested it might not be legal.
The ECHR is NOT the EU. It is nothing to do with the EU.
Outside of it in Europe are just, I think, Belarus and Russia. I wouldn`t like us to join that club. Give UK citizens less rights than Armenians, Azerbijanis…Turks, etc. Just to force through a stupid scheme that could be solved with a little (non headline making) extra office workers? And a lot less cash.
Are the migrants on Calais beach aware of the Rwanda scheme?
A hundred of them saying "Iam in Rwanda" wont IMHO outweigh the thousands saying “Hey, I`m in England”. **
Should we just pick and choose which laws we obey?
Change every time the wind shifts?
Disobey the law?
Mavericks? Independent thinkers?
Or
Criminals? Dis-respecters of the society in which we live?
**PS. Nobody has drawn parallels with Australia. refugeecouncil.org.au/asylu … tatistics/
In their case they had much smaller overall numbers, and almost all of them were sent back or housed offshore. Totally different to the UK scheme. The “push effect” the reason Vietnamese etc, were seeking refuge also decreased at this time.
Franglais:

Absolutely we should. Any law that we the people judge that is detrimental to the UK should be completely disregarded. I honestly struggle to see why you have such an issue with putting Britain and British people first in Britain. Actually I don’t, but that’s another argument.
My mention of Australia was an attempt at humour more relative to the times of Ned Kelly et al. I understand why you would miss that. Speaking of Australia I imagine that their refugee problem is a tad less problematic than ours as it’s not really feasible for Abdul to row there is it?
Just who are you referring to?
Your mates down the Fox and Grapes?
Who is talking about withdrawing from the ECHR? A minority of politicians in one party.
Who elected the current PM? No one.
Who elected the current Home Sec? No one.
Both were elected as MPs. Neither was elected to positions of state.
And no one voted for the current Foreign Sec of course.
Was leaving the ECHR on the last manifesto of any part? No.
You do seem to have a very funny view of the way things work.
I cited the Australia situation because it has been referenced by many supporters of the Rwanda scheme. They try to draw parallels.
I am very sorry I didn`t laugh at your joke about Australia.
There.
Feel less offended now?
Countries should follow the agreements they make, not just renege on them for a whim.
Don`t you want immigrants to obey all UK laws? Not pick and choose which they obey?
Why should you individually or we collectively be different?
I dont want immigrants who dont obey UK laws. And I don`t want native Brits to be law breakers either.
the maoster:

This is perhaps what I find most sad about things these days. Wanting the best for the UK and its people first and foremost is seen as some sort of hideous crime that we should be be made to feel guilty of.

How much [zb] more do they want us to give these [zb] s ?

People in this country are sick to the stomach of putting up with these individuals in our towns. youtu.be/QFuoc8DzqdA?si=kNJEQHKc5BR_tcDX
Are you sure these scumbags you keep seeing are all illegal migrants tho? How can you tell the difference between an illegal migrant and a legal migrant that the tories are bringing over in their millions to keep wages down?
Who gives a flying [zb] if they are legal or illegal.
My sole concern is whether or not my daughters and granddaughters are going to get molested or not.
Tell ya what Jeff WHEN I catch up with the [zb] who was following my daughter, (she returned the compliment and took a pic of him back) I’ll be sure to ask him of his status.
I’ll let ya know.

He fits the demographic of the [zb] s in the hotels…dare I say it, racial profile , young male between I8 and 35 (his wife and poor family must be back at the hotel…aye right.) designer sports wear, expensive trainers, and a smart phone.
Because if he’s legal you need to stop voting tory because they’re bringing over 750,000 a year so they can keep paying low wages and paying them dole.
And even if he’s illegal - with the money they’ve urinated away to Rwanda they could’ve processed every illegal migrant in the country and got shot of most of them by now. The tories arn’t even interested in processing the illegals because they know it’s a vote winner having thousands of them in hotels.

Nothing wrong with wanting the best for the UK at all.
I happen to think that spending few million to process possible migrants on Calais beach is cheaper and more effective, and therefor fore better for the UK, than spending hundreds of million on exchanging a few with Rwanda.
I also think that the UK has been a largely respectable law abiding country, and wish it to remain so.
Some argue that throwing out laws to protect us all, in order to support an illegal crackpot scheme and chucking money at hotel owners, keeping illegals in the country longer than necessary, and paying money to keep people out of work is a good idea for the country.

That not voting Tory ship has sailed mate.
Not because I agree with you, or because of any influence from you or your mate either, as I have tried to tell everybody who has labelled me some kind of Tory lover…I simply ain’t !
When it comes to voting I am pure mercenary, I vote for who I think is right
for me and mine AT THE TIME.
(Problem this time is I ain’t got a viable alternative…nor even an option,.the way I see it.)
And don’t go all Franglais on ME with your self considered expertise on politics bull sh mate,.I ain’t interested.
To get back to my personal point t, as for whether this ■■■■■■ is legal or illegal…
Which part of 'I dont gaf ’ can you not compute ?
My priority is my daughter and the rest of my family over everything, and especially any trivial political party point scoring…
So if one migrant does something you don’t like you want shot of all 750,000? What if a white bloke from Bingley says something to a family member? Do we wipe Bingley off the map?
And you’ve spent the last 6 months cussing me out for being “labour” - that’s why I assumed you were tory.
JeffA:
So if one migrant does something you don’t like you want shot of all 750,000? Really?
Aye if ya like Jeff.
You know what?..
In fact actually yes, I would like shot of 750000 of them, irrespective of em doing summet I dont like or not, …or at least around 90% of that 750000 who are successfully taking the ■■■■ by masquerading as refugees.
Proper genuine refugees…not a problem.
Any more questions??
Caught a bit of a report this afternoon on GB News that numbers of asylum seekers are “going home for the Christmas holidays” (although I do take ANYTHING I hear on the news with a pinch of salt) , but if it’s true…
If only our governments could be nice to the taxpayers first and foremost eh?
What a concept. Democracy meaning we vote for those who help us hapless taxpayers…
We vote against parties that waste our taxes on stuff that’s not even for immigrants that have got to this country (other than travellodge bookings of course…)
JeffA:

No, the 750,000 arn’t the refugees - they’re the ones being invited over to legally work to keep wages down remember? We went through this a while ago.
The ones coming in the boats is only 25,000 - that’s why I was questioning whether the guy you saw was illegal or legal - the odds are he’s legal so if you stopped the boats tomorrow and processed all the illegals he’d still be here anyway.
And there’ll be another 750,000 just like him coming next year if the tories have their way.

Only 25000, seems like it’s ok after all then eh.
What was I thinking.
Oh…by the way. news.sky.com/story/more-than-10 … n-12937722
So the way my simple mind works to put that figure in some kind of perspective…if their many perks and free handouts included a cup final ticket to Wembley stadium, 10000 of them would not be able to get in.
So this + 10000. …that we know of and are being told about btw.!..of course. youtu.be/lKTLTIdjhqg?si=lDCtgPPQm6Udg3R1
100,000 over 5 years isn’t much is it - not compared to 750,000 legally coming every year. And remember none of the 100,000 can claim dole while any of the millions coming legally can. If you were concerned about the cost you’d be looking at the legal migrants wouldn’t you?
And what’s the alternative for the bosses of care homes for example? They would have to pay decent wages to get people to work in care homes and they don’t want to do that - that would affect their profits.
JeffA:
I’m coming round to yours for christmas anyway rob - and I’m bringing 20 illegals with me
I’d have a pint with you anytime Jeff, but no need to bring any from your gaff,.save yerself a few quid, and collect 20 local ones from round here.
There’s an abundance of choice.
Look at how OUR industry has picked up sharply to our benefit since some foreign drivers - went back home of their own accord since the Lockdown…
THAT can happen in “other industries” too, of course…
The Care industry for example…
We might have (in the near future) a full renaissance of “affordable” care in the shape of LIAF care workers whom we put up in our homes in a similar manner to the way we used to have “Exchange Visitors” back when we were at school…
If you employer a care worker for say, £200 a week LIAF - they are saving over £2000 a month on accomodation alone - so don’t need to earn the big-bucks going rate headline wage - they can do better out of LIAF where you don’t have to put your hand in your pocket, and your meagre-looking wages - are in fact pocket money to SPEND rather than cough up on “outgoings” like Accommodation, Food, and Drink…
