just something which struck me recently while talking to an old mate, when i mentioned a firm’s name he basically said ‘you didn’t work for that shower did you?!’ me having worked for them after i first new him 10 years ago
now before working for myself (i.e the inland revenue) i worked for 2 firms for about 3 years each back-to-back, both high profile firms of differing size, and although i’m not going to name names what struck me was:
XXXXXX - ran everywhere with total disregard for drivers hours regs, never had correct paperwork, some trucks and most trailers in a bad state of repair - but they were seen as a top notch firm by everyone in the industry
XXXXXXX - you were under major pressure to run within hours and actually work with TMs to make sure this was possible (i.e communicating instead of trying to ■■■■ them up) all paperwork was right and legal, if ANYTHING needed doing repair or service wise it got done there and then, no “let it develop” or “what do you want me to do about it” - but they were called worse than (zb)
by all and sundry, mind you some of the rumours did keep us all amused
