As much as I’ve enjoyed being a class 1 tramper I’ve decided to call it a day after buying a new house as I’ve figured I actually want to live in it and not just visit it at weekends! I applied for a job at a local recovery firm in east Lancashire and got offered the job there and then at the interview. Still I am quite anxious about what the future might bring and I will still be keeping an eye on the forum.
Congrats John. No more ■■■■■■■ in a bottle at 2am.
Thanks for coming

I don’t know. The wife keeps asking why I keep an empty bottle by the bed?

Another thread that’s drew me in under false pretences.
Good luck with your new job.
Not sure what’s worse. Being away all week tramping, or working 24hrs a day as a recovery driver. [emoji12]
Good luck anyway.[emoji1]

I reckon so, I would have thought a day job home every night would be more like, or even a van job start time finish time.
I only do day work,it’s nice to go home ,we’re here to enjoy life not work till we drop ,most bosses want to own your life, that’s not for me!

Why do you daymen think tramping automatically means ‘‘working to you drop’’, or the old ‘‘living like a tramp in a tin box’’ chestnut seems to be the common one
I’ve tramped for years (and married btw) and still managed to equate it with a decent quality of life, as for ‘‘enjoying life’’ I’ve had good times in the past both in UK and Europe, and believe me I am NOT the ‘‘Cab happy’’/‘‘love trucks’’ type by any means either.
Ok we have the idiots that treat the job as some kind of stay awake/endurance test, and if they are thick and submissive enough to let their boss ‘own their life’ that’s their look out.
Yeh it’s nice to go home, but it does not mean you are some kind of retarded slave if you don’t…each to his own.
good luck but I wouldn’t fancy the 2/3/4 am call outs and being at the end of a phone over weekends etc.
I have never liked nighting out but sometimes I got more sleep and felt better come the weekend than the times I was back home and back out within 9 hours.
