I'm out of here

Well after 48 years on the road, starting as a drivers mate on Banbury Buildings and 43 years as a class one driver I finally hung up the keys yesterday, it’s been a slice as they say, but sad to say the job is just not what it used to be, I think I saw some of the best of it in the 70’s / 80’s, met some great blokes and some not so great, but all in all I love almost every bit of it.
The Albion Clydesdale I started on as a mate is a long way from the Actros MP4 giga cab I finished on.
So what now you may say, well I’m off to Canada (not to drive) but to retire, My Wife is Canadian and wanted to return home, she’s been back home for 3 months now setting up home and I will join her in 2 weeks time. Looking forward to taking it easy no more getting up at 3 and 4 in the morning, but will be checking in on trucknet to see if i’m missing anything. good luck to you all and drive safely.
Cliff

Good luck to ya.
Keep the posts coming, I would miss you’re ■■■■ taking if you stopped.

I’m confused, there seems to be two Dieseldogs. Are you the same person as 999? I for one, would miss you :frowning:

Ah, ok

Ah, great farewell to the trucking game/I’m retired post. Very envious as it seems you’ve got out of it at a good time and your future sounds sorted.
All the best for your new life in Canada. I bet you can’t help looking at them American weird looking trucks and think to yourself you’d love a go on one though! [emoji23]

Enjoy, you have earned it, I finish driving next year…although June is my official retirement month, I may well go in April.

All the best

All the best & happy healthy retirement !

Good-bye.

I just checked my state pension age. Works out as 2060 but they said it’s under review and may change.
Chances are it will be the 70s again when I can retire

Ha , well I did actually work out there for a short period, doing Laredo, but no I won’t be looking to drive anymore trucks, but thanks for the comments.
