We sometimes have to hand our keys to the forkie, and those poor soles who do rdc work have to mingle with the unwashed. So imagine my horror when I have to hand in my keys and get asked to sit down in this place while I get loaded.
I ask if it has had a risk assessment but nope it hasn’t.
I ask if it has been weight tested and checked complete with a safety certificate but it hasn’t.
I ask if they think I will be safer sat here under a pipe shelf without a hard hat and in the path of forklifts or safer in my cab, they couldn’t answer.
bald bloke:
That’s better than J Sainsburys at Emersons used to have before they put the portacabin in.
Ah yes. Not allowed to sit in cab. But must also hand in keys… And the little ■■■■■■ checks if your doors are locked… (Well , he did when I went there. Asked him what he was doing. He said he was checking if my doors where locked. I asked him why. (may have come across a tad menacing. I take a lot of ■■■■ until I’ve had enough. Unfortunately I go from smilling to ripping head without much subtlety…). He started hidding behind ’ company proceedure’, ‘h&s’… I pointed out that with me standing outside the truck, it wasn’t going to ■■■■■■■ move. And as he had the keys, it wasn’t going to move… Other than that, that cab is my home during the week, and you ask my permission to interfere with it.
