Im not doing that im a driver!

I don’t mind helping in the yard when things go quiet, the lads are a good bunch and I end up laughing all day long. Boss thinks I’m a bad influence and once told me to walk around the factory instead of through it :exclamation: Love going out in the little van, especially in London. I can park the van at Smithfield Market and have a steak breakfast in the pub there - it’s to die for :exclamation:
Oh - and the little van gets into B&Q car park

AlexWignall:
I like tipping myself at ALDI.

My Tacho is on Other Work and I’m in the warehouse doing other work which is in my contract and I’m being paid to do.

If I was paid a salary and I had to leave my Tacho on break I would be unhappy. If I was an o/d and essentially I had been paid just to get there, I would be mortified.

Whatever way you want to look at though, it’s got to be better to tip yourself in forty minutes than wait three hours for someone else to do it.

W

if its a choice between aldi darlington and co-op birtley id pick birtley every day.why you want to go in and tip yourself/restack broke pallets when you can just reverse on a bay and let them do it i dont know, and i struggle to get a 45 min break in at birtley most days
i have to go in like you as its in my contract but i dont want to,id much rather sit/crash out at tesco donny for 1/2/3 hrs than 1/2/3 hrs stripping pallets at morrisons wakfield.
in saying that i rarely do any now, most of those jobs are done by one driver ,they only do it as they get set start times and pretty much set finish times

The first thing I would ask here, is why are you accepting broken pallets or unsafe stacks at your collections. Unless of course the driver has driven like a prat and upset the applecart. :stuck_out_tongue:

the trick is to know your obligations, and know what you’re worth, and dont let anybody push you beyond these two boundaries, if you youre selling yourself short and leaving yourself open to exploitation and also making it worse for the next bloke

I doubt you will be too keen to sit at Doncaster for three hours when you go o/d Ady so enjoy it while you can.

It’s been a long while since I’ve restacked a pallet but even so I would rather just get tipped and move on rather than sit stupifying on a loading bay at Tesco.

My thoughts too Rob and I have just written on another thread how it is quite a rare event for posts to be locked or deleted. I am not aware of any name calling or horrible stuff in my post

Haha we are making posts about posts that no longer exist how strange is that?

I felt sorry for Ady when I saw his outbursts last night. I just hope it was a case of one can of ‘wifebeater’ too many…

i had a weird dream last night. there was lots of caps lock, and talk of switzerland. all very strange. but when i woke up it was gone. phewee.

I applied for a job as a class 1 driver…and that is what i have been doing for years…DRIVING…if some one wants me to do something else its got to be worthwhile. This industry has always been tailboard delivery, and thats how it should stay…but on saying that, theres always a person you would bend the extra mile for if its in your interest…but it shouldnt be compulsory…and remember the contract of employment you signed, just hope you read it first.
For years whenever we were abroad, it wasnt heard of to load/tip your trailer, there was always staff employed to do that, and here, with so many unemployed, they could be offered that job and help drivers, and the economy.

they could and yes it would but it wouldnt help the firms profits paying the extra wages and that is what it comes down too cold hard cash

We always understood that under CMR terms the goods never belonged to the driver so it was the responsibilty of the consignor/consignee to arrange the loading/unloading.UK was not under CMR so help was expected,if only to make drivers life easier.

Yeah, there has been a lot of ■■■■■■■■ spouted by drivers about CMR over the years. :stuck_out_tongue:

Apart from our sandwiches, night out kit and other personal items what do we carry, whether under CMR or not, that belongs to us? In 27 years I have never carried a load that belonged to me.

welshphil:
UK was not under CMR

Yeah, that was one of the popular ones.

Between UK and Republic of Ireland goods do not come under CMR.

And don’t forget the classic CMR means Chauffeur Must Rest which you used to hear at least once a week a driver claiming he had pulled at a tipping point. :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Chauffer Must Rest haha

The old uns are always the good uns eh Coffee?

Dont forget that under CMR you dont have to pay for parking.
