Listening to radio 2 interview with a couple of muppets fighting for right of way. Plenty of listeners saying it’s illegal to reverse a bus with passengers on board.
Really?
Is it the same if you have illegal immigrants in your truck?

Most of the knobends that drive buses in my area struggle going forward so probably just as well there not allowed to reverse.
Hull Interchange, the buses ALL reverse off the stand, passengers or not.

Nottingham Victoria Station the same.
There was an article on here a bit since, Bath maybe, where a bus driver wouldn’t reverse when the road narrowed. Bus company acknowledged that it wasn’t illegal but against bus company policy.
It is illegal to reverse a bus on a public road . You can reverse but you must have a competent person watching you.(bus stations are exempt)
I was prosecuted a few years back ,for reversing a bus on a public road ( driving without due care and attention) i had no option , i left a gap to get out of ,when i returned a car had blocked me in
i explained this to the police officer,he still prosecuted me tho
Ended up in court ,the judge ,let me off ,no points ,no fine.
The union solicitor was excellent ,he represented me.
Quote the legislation or it’s bull

I bet most of those listeners can barely drive a car or quote something from the Highway Code, zb idiots. It’s not illegal, it’s just frowned upon…[emoji1]

I remember reading the comments of a facebook video somewhere about an instance of traffic joining the motorway and a couple of them were quite adament that traffic on the slip road had priority. One of them even said to someone who said that was untrue “seriously, you need to read your highway code or get off the road” (Or something like that) so if this is the type of people who have a standard car licence I wouldnt take too much heed of what they start quoting as law for licenses they probably dont have
Perhaps its this one people are thinking of

And I suppose all the lorry drivers are perfect… Stop being so narrow minded.
There used to be something called ‘the PSV regulations’ which covered all sorts of things relating to buses many yonks ago. One of the things was no smoking for drivers.
IT IS NOT ILLEGAL!!!
There is no legal difference between a bus and a coach. I have reversed THOUSANDS of times with passengers.
Utter, utter ■■■■■■

Maybe not illegal but sometimes not advisable unless you know exactly what is happening behind you.
It all depends where you are reversing and let’s face it we see drivers doing dangerous manoevres everyday but luckily most of the time they get away with it. Any good coach or bus driver would never put their passengers at risk.
I wonder how many on here reverse their car out of their drive on to a main road?
Now that is illegal and dangerous.
Makes you laugh. How are passengers at risk reversing? Only person at risk is the idiot walking behind you! The same idiot could be hit by a a HGV doing the same manuever!

Glad you mentioned that, as people pratting about or just blindly reversing out in front of me really ■■■■■■ me off.

Wakey Wakey jack… doh… what happens if another vehicle hits the back of the coach. It has happened and no doubt will happen again.
And what the hell is a manuever?
I asked the same question while doing my training. The instructor just, “if it’s safe to do so”.
So crack on and beware the muppet behind.
Cheers

You would get minor damage to the coach. We are not talking about 100MPH impact speeds here

Oh so sorry for mis-spelling one word when you know exactly what I meant!
How often does a HGV have to reverse into a premises off a road. Visabilties more or less the same, the size is more or less the same. Only difference is having people aboard.
