ill Driver

When a driver becomes ill with a condition that means he cant drive for a while is it up to the driver or the tm or both to report this to dvla

The driver. All sorts of confidentiality and data production stuff prevents doctors and certainly TMs from doing it.

Thanks for the info wasnt aware of that Rob thought it would have been the doctors and the employer s duty to inform the DVLA .

and what if the driver with the illness goes to work for someone else and does not tell the new employer?

it is definately down to the driver, regardless of what categories on his/her licence, to notify DVLA of any illness that may impair their ability to drive a vehicle

Good point shuttle and if you were operating through out europe would you have to notify all The licence ing authoritys or just your home one

you would notify the licensing authority of the country that you are a registered resident of, such as UK, it would be DVLA

no need to inform other authorities, as if the illness is severe enough, the DVLA will revoke the licence until such time as the illness has passed and a further medical has been taken

if the DVLA revoke your licence, you are not allowed to drive that category of vehicle in any country, end of!
