quite an easy solution then , maybe no one wanted to state the obvious

Laid on my bunk in Telford services not slept a wink thanks to some [zb] running his reefer all night. Up in 5 hours for another grueling 15 hours. What would yo guys do??
You could have parked on the industrial estate at Stafford Park, quiet as anything there.
Who was there first?
If you were there first, I’d have told him to ■■■■ off or turn it off, if he were there first, then tough.
I find that after a decent days work though, I have 1 beer and I can sleep through anything, fridges, arguments, v8 scania’s. you do just get used to it I think.
One of the great advantages of parking in any services is that you’re kept up all night by all the trucks coming and going.
If you don’t want to be kept up all night, don’t park up in areas that are open all night.

Sorry mate, but if you want help and advice, you won’t find much on here amongst some of the ■■■■ that peruse the site…they prefer to ■■■■ take rather than help someone out - and they use sarcasm 'cos they ain’t got the brain power to use wit… takes 'em all their time to type without dribbling…![]()
Ear plugs are best matey…enables more zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz without disruption.
Ye’ sure bud. The drivers with the real brains, or is it experience, don’t park-up in motorway services in the first place.

The OP told us that they were new to commercial driving, and doesn’t normally do nights out so maybe that wasn’t something he or she was aware of…
You have just proven my statement about dopey drivers correct as you obviously didn’t even read the OP properly…obviously too much for you all those long words
Thanks for all your suggestions. I was there first but wouldn’t ask him to turn it off not his fault he’s got to leave it on. Also we have to stay in msa company policy. Again thanks for your suggestions moulded ear defs from now on. As for hard days no they’re not hard but maximum allowed hours every shift so tireing.
The best cure for sleeping near a running fridge is to get a job driving one, you’ll soon get used to it, after that you can sleep through anything
I’m not currently driving as im a newbie and looking for work, as far as I can see though, I doubt a fridge driver will turn a fridge off so people can sleep, surely the cargo is to be kept chilled. Pardon my ignorance though as I am unaware of how long a fridge will stay cold for if turned off, obviously weather etc needs to be considered.
just my 2p worth, but if I was in your situation and couldn’t sleep I would probably have parked a little further away
Regs,
Nick

Ok, depends what it’s carrying, how loaded it is, whether it’s got a tracking computer to see if it’s turned off and trigger an alarm etc.
There’s a million things to consider before a fridge will be turned off.
He was there first, so parking a little further away should’ve been the fridge drivers responsibility, surely?
I parked at Watling Street truck stop a few weeks ago and the only space was next to a running fridge, parked next to it, it was gone when I woke up in the morning, that’s all I can tell you about it
It’s only a week or so ago that a driver posted saying that he parked in the long load bays when stopping for a 45 at night, to avoid disturbing sleeping drivers, and he got shot down in flames for doing it!
Seems that some will always find fault no matter how considerate others try to be.
To those of you who use earplugs, how do you hear your alarm to wake up?

I tell you what why can you not just offer advice that hasn’t got sarcasm in it. Thanks to those of you who actually tried to help. If you moved half way through your rest period, how are you going to explain that one to VOSA?

They will not stop you from hearing everything, and i have never not heard my alarm yet.
But i ave got so reliant in using them to get a good nights sleep,I find ithard now to sleep withut them
I was in a layby on the a1 once and a fridge pulled in for the night behind me and another of our motors who were parked there. The unit dropped the trailer and reversed down the layby and parked behind his own trailer. The lad I was running with reversed right up to the fridge to block it. Considering we weren’t due in Newark until 10, the stobby fridge motor was stuck and had to couple up at 90 degrees. Was a bit harsh on him like

I’d like to know the answer to this. How did you break your rest and get away with it?

I’d simply be honest and explain the situation. At the end of the day i couldn’t have risked driving with no sleep so made the move and secured four hours not ideal but wasn’t going to risk falling asleep at the wheel all day.

not that I would but that deserves a sharpened bolt in front of a tyre or two and/or pulling the pin on the idiot. and it’s not the fridge driver I mean by that.

Agreed, often see artics uncouple and pull up to the doors of box vans, I assume it’s when they are carrying more valuable stuff that they couldn’t leave the door open for.

They do that to stop people knicking stuff out of the back & to get a bit away from the fridge as a lesser requirement.
So your mate would have roughly been 45 ft at least away from this fridge as was the guy pulling it which is ample to get a reasonable bit of kip but he decided to make the fridge drivers start to the day a nightmare. What a prick.
Most newer fridges are pretty quiet nowadays anyway & if they’re on constant without all the stop/start malark. Bit different if you have an older jalopy.
