FTA says the challenge for vehicle operators is far from over with only 530 unemployed drivers claiming benefit in August 2016, meaning there is no pool of qualified drivers on which employers can draw
How have they came up with this number? how would you define a “driver” in this instance. class 1, 2, luton, van, taxi, FLT( i mean they drive them right?). This is utterbullshit on a first degree case
The independent ‘Driver Shortage: issues and trends’ report, prepared for FTA by RepGraph Ltd, calculates the shortfall between the number of registered HGVs and the number of qualified drivers is 34,567
How many of these “registered” HGV’s are currently owned by traders? How many of these “registered” HGVs are actually sat there with work and no driver?
This is attributed to an increased number of employed truck drivers and rising salaries, on average twice the rate of inflation through overtime and bonuses.
Fixed that for you, by overtime they mean getting people run 55+ plus weeks, we are people with families that we want to spend time with, not making a nickle for some prick like william stobart. And if/When they do complain making them scared that they will never get another job.
We all drive trucks, people need trucks being drove, don’t take any ■■■■ from an employer.
FTA Deputy Chief Executive James Hookham said: “The report highlights the industry’s reliance on EU nationals, with more than 30,000 – 10 per cent of the entire driver workforce – currently employed in the UK.
It’s because of there reliance on the EU that our ■■■■ wages dropped to near minimal wages, because they found that out that our minimal wage was better then the country these’s “drivers” came from. Then they had their families come over to ■■■■ our benefit systems, whilst all 35 of them shared a 3 bedroom council house, whilst claiming housing benefit.
We urge the Government to ensure its Brexit negotiations afford special status to logistics and allow for this employment to continue so that the industry is not hit by another driver shortage crisis.
the high cost of licence acquisition are all impacting on the sector.
They be taking the ■■■■■■■ ■■■■, this is all the stuck up ■■■■■ that have let this government ■■■■ on the working man the last 8years, can’t say much myself never voted. But yes it’s your fault!
