If you didn't drive for a living

Considering you still had to work and have naff all in the way of qualifications what else would you do for a living besides driving ?

I’m still young enough that I could try and change career paths. Having two young kids and a mortgage whilst doing these kinds of hours for a pittance don’t seem fulfilling.

I know there’s not a lot out there for unqualified people but surely there must be a decent work/life/wage balance elsewhere.

I have a degree in broadcast so I could try and get back into that industry.

Bin man , I kid you not keeps you fit and if in a good crew you can have a right laugh

I did an apprenticeship as a plasterer, but working on building site in the winter is no fun at all, much prefer my cab with heating.

■■■■ Star. Or Despatch Rider.

Could go back to building trucks instead, used to work at a place making vac tankers doing the air electrics and hydraulics.
Was a good job but 50 mile round trip a day wasn’t the best.

No idea why but i.ve always thought if i packed in driving i would like to work in an airport , no idea why i just seem to like the hustle and bustle of it all

Maybe run a brothel or do what i now do ‘nothing’,just live on early pension.

Obviously I’d be stacking shelves in Tesco. Better hourly rate, no responsibility, no planners giving you grief and all that…

Don’t think I’ll join the army again, did think navy or something maritime (not the transport firm [emoji6]) as other than trucks iv always liked boats/ships

Come and take this one I’m on cos it’s a bloody nightmare to handle in even the slightest of breezes ! :frowning:

I think if I was to change career again I’d go into something a little different and extend the IPAF qualification I’ve got to go into MEWP training (cherry pickers etc.) Talking to the guy who trained me, there’s always a need for trainers in this field and as long as you pass the theory and practical for all types of IPAF (5 from memory) with reasonably high marks, you can train people. No GCSE’s etc required unless the training company are total [fb]'s.

Would do it now, but would find it more boring than driving, plus there’s no RDC gossip!

Crime. Some say it doesn’t pay, but that’s ■■■■■■■■.

I could be a stay at home dad and make her return to full time nursing… or well maybe not when the bairns 2 she’s a little bit much for me to look after for more than a day!

Or just return to my old a/c fridge number and spend 50 hours a week getting covered in dirty kitchen grease or wrapped up at -18 in walkins… Nah thanks!

I’d probably put the holes in polo mints or something equally as thrilling.

Probably good to plan ahead because according to some driverless trucks are going to take over the world and we’ll all be jobless.

A.

If I didn’t drive for a living I wouldn’t be driving

I don’t have two young kids and a mortgage, but I would set myself up as a gardener / handyman. Loads of wealthy retired folk out there wanting help cutting grass, pulling out weeds, digging ponds, cleaning gutters, painting ceilings, fixing vacuum cleaners, taking the dog for a walk - would take a while to get known and established but could easily command 12 - 15 quid an hour cash in hand. Diving a truck was the perfect start for me as I had bean a prize one moron at school and had zero qualifications, half decent money once if you put the hours in, but today I’m not to sure.

Bed tester working night shift.

If I wasn’t driving I’d try my hand at bra fitting or a tampon flush/soak tester.
