My situation in a nutshell: We’re selling the house I part own, and I’ll need to buy a place of my own. I could only buy a flat outright down here but there are cheaper parts of the UK where I could buy a detached house. I can potentially relocate anywhere, I’m willing to “start again” somewhere if the area’s good and the property’s cheap. I do need there to be driving jobs wherever I go though. I like the sea, so a town with a port would be ideal (also good for jobs, I’m thinking). I’ve been doing my own research for a couple of months and I’ve visited places, but just thought it was worth asking for some more ideas that I can look in to.
So do you know any nice areas near to the coast with reasonable property prices?

Fareham in Hampshire…
I’m not looking at prices but, it’s sorta midway (ish) between Pompey and Southampton. I worked for many different outfits down there in my 20s.
I moved confidently from one job to another over the years, containers, general haulage, fridges, European if you want it, you name it and it’s happening down there.
No reason to 'spose things have changed that much.

Plenty of cheap rabbit hutches being build at lee on the Solent and at back of Fair oak also above Hedge end
We’ve got no vacancy’s , containers are busy but it’s lead up to chrimbo time
Or there’s Tesco’s , one stop or Lidl’s
The Bristol area is very good for transport jobs however the property is daft money, over the bridge in Wales around 20/30 minutes by road to plentiful jobs in Avonmouth, Chepstow Caldicot Magor ETC are all nice places to live with reasonable house prices and fairly near the coast £250,000 or less buys a nice 3 bedroom house with a garage for the toys.
God no! Anywhere but. Beautiful place, great weather, but Jeez, the traffic is appalling. Mate of mine who lives in Spain was looking for somewhere in the UK, said he’d found a place in Gosport. I warned him against it, he didn’t listen. A few weeks of it taking over an hour to do the 5 miles to the M27 or back from on a night soon convinced him to sell up.
It makes London traffic look like a quiet Sunday morning!

Why do you think I stay in the yard in the week if I’m not up the road ,
Takes me 30mins to get in at 6am , if I was to go home at 5pm ish could take an hour
