Just chillin out on a night off listening to some tunes on my Walkman, have Level 42 - lessons in love, on the headphones at the moment, those upstarts Simple Minds coming next on my compilation ‘album’.
Now don’t you forget about me or take on me (or take me on), or does everyone want to rule the world??
My friend who is of a certain age (60) has just started doing mobile discos again after 20 years, him and his former MC have got together and will only play vinyl. They have never been so busy
He has really relit my fire as he has an eclectic view and I am hearing stuff for the first time. Bear in mind I spent most of the 80’s and early 90’s out of the country, there was a lot of stuff I missed out on
They also do specialist nights and his Northern Soul is very popular as are his specialist Reggae nights.
Recent 80’s performers I am listening to now are almost dead or have gone off the face of the earth.
This is a great reminder of the bands, songs and grainy videos.

What’s yours?
I love Simple Minds seen them at M K bowl the same day Maradonna scored the hand of god goal against England and they were great and played for well over 2 1/2 hrs. At the moment got The Cure in the cd player and will probably be followed by Del Amitri or The Smiths.
I want to break free, Queen!! Kings of the 80’s or U2 at their best “The Joshua Tree” 1987!!
Don’t forget Howard Jones! Ah Yes!! Simple Minds! What a band!
Joshua Tree was excellent album, not to mention Talking Heads ‘Long Player’ Stop making sense - was ‘Road to Nowhere’’ on this one? How apt… Then again could be utter Madness. My name is Michael Caine
Peter Gabriel - Games Without Frontiers,
Landscape - Einstein a go-go,
Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart,
Will Powers - Kissing With Confidence,
Kid Creole & The Coconuts - Stool Pigeon,
Paul Young/Streetband - Toast,
Rainmakers - Let My People Go,
Falsh & The Pan - Waiting For A Train
Big Country - Big Country
Then Jerico - Big Area…
Just ten of the many, many reasons why my Mrs keeps trying to hide my iPod before we go out in the car
80’s was the best for music (maybe less said about the cloths thou lol)
