Reading the board as I have a class 2 and considering becomming a driver… Though it strikes me that most of the problems and rants about the industry simply wouldn’t apply if it were female dominated.
I can just imagine some appalling Blair clone endlessly highlighting the poor working conditions, impossible work life balance, even hygiene issues from sleeping in the cab with no showers available. The unessessary regulation would be discrimination, a result of patriarchy inflicting suffering on hard working heroines. The BBC would be highlighting the importance to the economy and how free training should be provided. Any bloke in an accident involving a truck would be instantly liable…
So what would definitely change, and rapidly, if the roles were reversed?
Toilet seats in trucks stops and RDCs wouldn’t be covered in ■■■■ because females seem more capable of getting it into the toilet compared to a lot of male drives it would seem.
Of course it would be better, women wouldn’t put up with the conditions we do, toilets would have a good chance of being clean, food would have options, not just burgers or cheap nasty meat with frozen veg boiled within an inch of it’s life. Can’t happen soon enough!

Picture the scene women truck drivers call for women only employed in the kitchen and cleaning the place on the basis that they do the job better.

The industry is already full of whining, ■■■■■■■■, gossiping divas already.
Seriously though, bring it on I say, it’d mean a few less fat sweaty “2nd in on the balcony” and “had my wheels chalked and 12hrs off on a bay last time I was 'ere” self proclaimed driving gods to put up with in RDC holding cells.
Oh and air ride seats would probably be made bouncier.

many years ago my ex used to clean a wine bar and a nightclub, some weekends I would help her. my god
the womens was disgusting, sick,used tampons, used condoms, ■■■■ spread up the walls. had to be seen to be belived.
I heard that a large collection of women in the same place - eventually leads to “Synchronized Periods”. This would mean that they could get in a Male Toilet Attendent for those 4-5 shifts per month where there’s actually some serious work to be done in the ladies…
Thus the demand for male drivers would be zippo, but the demand for male toilet attendents - would be legion.
Many years ago I was collecting and delivering from a factory that employed mainly women on a production line.
The graffiti in the ladies toilets was a lot more graphic and imaginative than that in most gents.
As reported by some guys who were working on an overhead conveyor, the conversation on the production line was mostly about ■■■; who was and wasn’t getting any; whose husband wasn’t up to the job and the boyfriend who was… very explicit to the point that the guys were embarrassed.
I am not convinced that cheap perfume and sweat is an improvement to sweaty truck drivers overdue for a shower.
