Fileep I understand where youre coming from in the respect that it should be up to other people how long they drive/work for, but you know then you will get people running all hours of day and night, money grabbing. Driving tired just to make the extra pennies. And then when joe bloggs runs into the back of a family car and it turns out hes been on card for 19 hours all political hell will break loose and there will be road safety campaigns to limit drivers hours etc… bringing us nicely back to square 1. Even though im away most of the time I very rarely work more than 12 now and that suits me fine, but I do notice the difference if I have to squeeze out 15. Especially if I have a 9 and get straight back on the road. This is probably going to cause a stir, but if im honest anybody who would gladly work over 15 probably needs to get out the truck a bit more anyway!
I’m not saying I want to work more than 15 hours, I think they’ve got that bit right, that should be long enough for anyone. It’s the people on minimum wage (I hope no Class 1 drivers are on this by the way) what is it £6.19ph? So a 48 hour week will bring you in £15k give or take! Just under £20k for 60 hours per week, I would sooner put the extra effort in and earn more than be told, sorry you can’t do that!
