If you were a manufacturer and wanted to get your product noticed, get some good technical feedback from drivers and put it through thousands of miles of road testing, what better company to do it then Plod PLC?
As far back as 2008 IIRC Sussex Police had a Exige in plod livery. Not allowed to be operational but they would take it to events as it was something that would engage the public with them.
as for being lent for free by manufacturers, no problem there. It’s better than spending tax payers money on it.
