If I Get My Hands On

ROG:
Does keeping to the speed limits and the method that a driver gets paid go, generally, not always, hand in hand

No, speeding has no benefit for us at all, the longer the job takes the better, but many of our drivers are still flat out on the single carriageways.

ho ho,another holier than thou [zb] post i can rip apart!!!

bite easy dont you Bucky?! seems that the guy who mentions your anger management issue is right, with a temper like yours i dont think you should really by driving a truck pal to be honest. you sound like a liability.

Must have taken you a while to sit and type it all out though. you don’t have to explain yourself to me though, i think the fact that you are so offended by what i said and have set aside so much of your obviously precious time to refute it says more than anything else!

here we go again :unamused: :unamused:
if you are going to bother having PERSONAL attacks on me here i dont mind at all,but please get your facts absolutley right before you do so(its a pet hate of mine).and it makes you look like an even bigger idiot!.
FACT- you dont know me personally,so how can you comment on my temper?
FACT-do you really think because of the fact you dont know me,you are in a position to comment whether i should drive a truck for a living?.
FACT-liability■■?,as mentioned in my last post i have NEVER had an accident.
FACT-please explain “obviously precious time■■?”,because like in your last drivvle, sorry i meant post, you used and implied words to effect an untrue a factless ramble AND accused me of saying things i didnt.

FACT-i take the time to sit and type out something for multiple reasons,ie im a member of this forum?,and i feel strongly about this subject…thats why i posted on it!.please dont feel you are ever worthy of me explaining myself to you,i only answer to 1 person.
FACT-what exactly did i refute■■?.
with all that said,im old enough to realise there will always be different viewpoints/feelings/opinions.some i respect, some i dont, but when it comes to untrue alligations and personal attacks i will bite back!.

‘…Does keeping to the speed limits and the method that a driver gets paid go … hand in hand…’

It’s dangerous to generalise but there is doubtless some mileage to discuss that suggestion, ie, tippers vs. trolleys vs. containers vs. blue-chip vs. the usual hooligans vs. the myriad of unmarked/unlogo’d, etc.

And possibly begs to objectively ask which driver is:

a) The least stressed
b) The safest
c) The most irritated
d) Under the most financial duress
e) Doing the best PR for the industry re Joe Pubic
f) The richest
g) The last bod on earth you’d introduce to your Mum or trust near a school gate ice-cream van
h) …& the most legal

The only definite answer is perhaps that it all depends where one’s beliefs & values lie…

Another point is depends on the actual road your driving on.

If the single carriageway road your using is say 5-10 miles long after coming off a motorway then speeding isn’t really going to effect your journey time in the slightest, one truck does 56mph other does 40mph they will prob get to the same traffic lights or roundabout at the same time.

But then you have long distance single carraigeway routes like say the A1, A75, A9 and others were your doing a decent distance on a single carraigeway road and in most cases the roads have been upgraded and sorted out, so even though they are single carriageways a lot of the bad bends, bad junctions have been removed and its safe to exceed the 40mph limit. Also on these roads going faster really does save you time.

If i am on a long distance single carriageway road i’d tend to go faster than the 40mph, but if it was say a 5mile bit of road prob wouldn’t bother whats the point not saving any time in reality.

the majority of replies on this thread answers the questions as to …
1 how is our industry in such a mess right now

2 why is the standard of driving so poor these days

proffessional drivers …dont make me laugh !

anyway im away to sit at the legal limit of 40 mph at £10 p/h then £11.36 after 6pm
toodle-pip !

You mean to suggest Marty that:

Marty B7:
‘…how is our industry in such a mess right now …’

Because we, the electorate, have allowed it to be half dominated by Euro-law but then disregarded how the other half is to be implemented nationally (whilst our politicians tell Iraqis & Afghanis how to live!) before we ask:

Marty B7:
‘…why is the standard of driving so poor these days…’

Which is clearly through us having rubbish governance.
My take is ‘…professional politicians…?’ - dont make me laugh

Politicians are supposed to represent the will of the people that voted them in, somehow that ethic has been forgotten, nowadays they just look down on us & dictate what they think is best for us, the scariest thing for me is that nobody seems to recognise that pretty soon the British public will be living in oppression not seen since the Soviet era, I suggest you all read 1984, it makes Nostradamus look like a beginner.

Yes I think Mr Blair got it about right about the war. Eurasia Oceanasia and Eastasia.

Eric, not Tony that is!

If I get a queue behind me I,ll give a couple of flashes on the left indicator when it,s safe to pass. Trouble is I must be old school cos no-one nowadays seems to know what it means plus some of them are so far up your back side they cant see the left indicator

I’m lucky that it doesn’t annoy me like it does some (since I’m not likely to cop an underrider/tail-lift in the chops), but seeing them dodgily dart out to have a quick sneeky-peek like scared doormice - at the wheels of their 110 bhp+, £20k+ turbo-chariots is scary.

The regularity of this style behaviour surely confirms that the untrained/uneducated/poorly-skilled motorist is in the ascendency?
