Iceland Swindon

What is the point of operating a booking time system if it bears no relation to unloading you?

Turned up at 1755 for a 1800 booking, still sitting waiting for a bay.
Been told it could be gone 2000 before I get on a bay. 2 hours after my booking time. For 9 pallets.

What a complete ■■■■■■■ joke of an operation. DHL.

you round the back on ambient ?

It’s notorious for being slow, I always turn up as early as I can there as booking times seem non existent.

annoying eh.
i’ve always been pretty lucky there, although they never seem keen on tipping early. a couple of times i’ve been 30 mins/an hour early, but not on a bay till bang on the booking time.

Frozen.

The stories I’ve heard about this place, however, in the interest of balance I have only been there once. Fridge running fine from Liverpool to Birmingham, fridge developed problems, informed office but told to keep going as they couldn’t get a later booking and that meant no time to repair. Got to Iceland swindon, Freezer air temp was now showing -10 and not -25 (product would have been colder). When I got there I explained it to them, they put me on a bay and tipped me straight away. They did say that I would have to rejoin my place in the queue as regards them scanning it in, but they were good. Have heard so many bad stories about them though, not as bad as Iceland Enfield mind you !

You were lucky there, the last thing you do is tell a customer about fridge problems as many would just reject the load.

It must have been an old fridge with bad seals to go -25 to +10 between Brum and Swindon!

With the lovely manicured nails? Lol

I’ve only ever done chilled there but I like the fact that they come out to you to collect keys and paperwork and then return them to you after, all very reassuring in this inclement weather of ours, also lovely canteen.

Like you said in one of your video’s, offices are there to deal with the problems, personally I wouldn’t have mentioned anything especially in that place, but the office told me what to do so I followed their instruction ! This was around 1998 or 1999. It was PDL, they made their own rules up as they went along !

tipping bays full up fella they don’t have that many on a shift , so they tip one check it off then do the next bay, then the next etc etc so the next truck gets on the bay and has to wait while the 1st load is put away before they can tip you , its a domino effect , they don’t have 1 person tipping one bay he’ll be tipping 4 /5 bays then the checker has to scan everything then if it don’t come up on the scanner they have o go get it put on the system manually all takes time mate …next itll be like that other mob self tip :unamused:

Sod that and your having to sit in a canteen whilst you wait
