Ice road trucking. would you?

I have been watching it on 5 any one know anything I’ve heard you can earn 40k in 3 month

Would you want to work for Hugh the Polar Knob & Vlad the Mad Russian Knob ?
Leaves their own wagons stranded in the middle of nowhere & doesn’t give a Toss for the driver.
We can all do a limited bit of maintenance to get out of the ■■■■, but Art’s wagon looks like it’s seen its best days, with all the breakdowns he keeps having.
Probably needs new batteries & a rewire, I like the way they pulled it away from that trailer last week, ripping a Suzi out on the way !

They all are completely bonkers.

Radar19:

Yep, but the TV Money comes in handy !

I wouldn’t mind doing the Ice road, I like ice & frosty places, although I have to say, I really don’t think I would cope with -40 to -50 ((( :open_mouth: )))Brrrrrrr!!!
And the other reason, I don’t go abroad, not for holidays or anything else :unamused:

40k for 3 months work I’d eat the bogies out of a dead mans nose 3 times a day and ask for seconds

how hard can it be when to please the pc brigade we now have ice road lisa…im quite sure its overdramatized for the cams, and safety issues abound there as well. :unamused:

It wouldn’t supreme me if it was over dramatised, they have to make the programme interesting or people wouldn’t bother watching it probably.

It would be nice to go & get on the ice roads though, driving somewhere different , I did see the adverts in the paper last year, and I did think about going.

Just think you could escape the over crowded roads here lol

British ice road trucker dies following his dream

I wouldn’t mind having a go on the tarmac ice road, bit there’s no way I’d drive on the river/sea ice road, looks to iffy to me and besides I haven’t got the bottle for it.They deserve all they earn and more, imho.

It’s nice to have dreams, but as someone who has been driving trucks in Canada for the last 6yrs, let me tell you, driving an artic on ice is not fun, seriously not fun, sometimes luck is all that keeps you from having a very bad crash.

You would have to have a lot of 'common sense ’ to drive in in those types of weather / road conditions, & in those termsperatures, & be able to deal with any occurring. problems as they come along . Even the polar bears etc !
It’s not an easy job in those types of conditions. And you’d need to climatize to the harshness of the freezing temperatures, or you wouldn’t be able to survive & function properly. It isn’t a decision to make lightly.

There would always be the element of death .

If I knew that I would be able to climatize to those extreme temperature, I would probably go out there to drive the ice roads and across the lakes.

& don’t forget about the Suspense Music that follows you every where, like a hollow metal tube being drawn across a rusty stringed out of tune violin.
