one of the loads was a JCB fork lift
where are they made
I think that the parts are made all over Europe and “assembled” in the Uk.The one in our yard has a “made in Britain” sticker on it though
I stand to be corrected no doubt.
Cheadle Staffordshire.
i thought uttoxeter was the main spot. but is the op on about seeing one on ice road truckers? and are they made over there??
They have a plant in Savannah, Georgia but don’t know that they produce there.
the one I saw was as big if not larger

Around the same size, if not smaller.
Rocester is the main plant nr uttoxeter .
JCB have factories in around the Uttoxeter/Cheadle areas of Staffordshire they have 2 in Cheadle , 2 in Uttoxeter and there main headquarters are at Rocester near Uttoxeter the machine featured in Ice road truckers would be built there if produced in UK ? Could be a possibility with the amount of them u see heading for the docks on Brit European and other hauliers at the moment .
I used to drive JCB 926 fork lifts all the time.
We also have a couple of small JCB forlifts where I work at the moment.
I assume they are made at Uttoxeter like all the other JCB’s.

Bigger than the Mani’one.
I’m fairly certain most of the North American stuff is produced domestically, they have several factories worldwide. That said I’ve seen loads at Tilbury heading for Brazil

Hi all. I worked for Richard Long for a few years but now retired. I delivered all sorts of J.C.B. equipment from bobcats to mega 360s. I once took a loading shovel from Cheadle depot to Bruno Airport Chez which was bound for Sudan. Its cheaper doing it this way.
The Ice Road Truckers JCB was made in Cheadle and shipped out to Canada Brit European and subbies deliver all the machines to different UK ports and they occasionally deliver the 3CXs over to western Europe and reload truck chassis mainly MAN. Richard Long delivers all there heavy stuff all over Europe and reloads mainly agricultural machines.
The World Parts Centre on the A50 at Uttoxeter ships parts all over the World. The Factory next door makes all the Heavy 360s. Rocester is all 3CXs and the 2 factories at Cheadle make the Bobcats and the Loading Shovels.
Enjoy your Trucking Im getting the Motorhome ready to go to Portugal for the winter.
Best Regards Ben
righto I’ve looked them up
The story of JCB is one of innovation, ambition and sheer hard work. From small beginnings building agricultural tipping trailers in 1945, to the global force in manufacturing the company has become today, JCB has constantly pushed the boundaries in our desire to be the best. My father and company founder Joseph Cyril Bamford’s motto was, “Jamais content”, and that is exactly right — we are never content with our achievements. But I believe that even he would be amazed by what the company has become. Today, we have 22 plants on four continents and more than 750 dealers around the world

Bigger than the Mani’one.
The 2 factorys at Cheadle are (or were when I was in there 3 times a week) :
JCB Compact Products which make skid steers, forklifts etc.
JCB Earthmovers - dumptrucks
The Landpower factory used to be in the middle of Cheadle making Fast-tracs
Rocester make Backhoe loaders (traditional looking JCB’s, and Loadall (telescopic handlers)
Uttoxeter was Heavy products (360 excavators)
JCB make virtually everything themselves in house or source from companies they own. They build everything from scratch from sheet steel. When I was in there the only things externally sourced were engines from Perkins (I think they use their own engines now), hoses from Gates rubber and tyres. Everything else was built by themselves or wholly owned companies.

you are behind the times a bit , the flagship 3cx is only 30 odd % British built the Cat built as Desford is more “British” made
JCB sell machines on the name they have made the last 4 3cx,s i have had have all been let downs , i am awaiting a engineer to turn up tomorrow to take measurements of pin and bush wear on the front bucket , as it has the play you would expect from a 10,000 hr machine , unfortunately this one has 190hrs and still has the paint in the bucket its done that little
JCB Savannah featured on Quest
prog Factory Line last night Fri 23rd
Didn’t we have a poster called Bamford on here who knows an awful lot about the firm (you can guess why from the name)
This could be cleared up in an instant
