I want to stand as an independant for transport

guys look im a truck driver but im sick and tired of europe beating us up about illegal immigrants so the french need to take more notice and do something about them more that just dropping them off on diesel alley after picking them up from calais port.

If i stood would you guys support me and im very serious

if at all possible yes , anybody with an inkling of the real industry would get my vote

shaw tarse:

shaw trust me ive got a very big inckling about our industry and we are being beaten at every turn.

well hope you get on well but dont you think its the uk’s fault not the french its us that keep giving the ilegals every thing they want when they get here when we should send them straight back to france as by law if they r looking for a safe country it should be the first safe country they arrive in. which is not the uk .

End all the benefits and watch how quick the immigrants disappear from Calais, they simply won’t come here anymore

And that is the problem, it isn’t France either.

I am sure there is enough support Kerwyn, but who are you going to stand against, give us a manifesto and we will offer support

Go fore it I’m with you 100% as would any right minded voter be. It,s time we had someone from the real world with a voice

I am going to watch this thread with interest
I am sure that there is a need for a real voice in our
industry. I wish you every success. Neville.

you have my vote go 4 it mate

Don’t wish to ‘wee on your french fries’ mate but with the English voting system you need to represent a constituancy, and unfortunately for you, only people in that costituancy can vote for you so all the support in the world on here probably won’t help you. Good idea though.

Ross.

please d,ont take this the wrong way. the poor people in calais ar just a pawn in a big game. point one, if the poor buggers did not get money, house,s and all the pc brigade help in the world they would not head for treasure island. point two, half the poor {zb} ar not hear to obtain political asylym, they,r here for the giro and the benefits. now for the hard facts you want to become an mp, like the rest of them you want to stand for what you beleive or to claim all the benefits and fiddles. the difference between an ilegal imigrant and an mp is wee dont vote in imigrants they have to come in their own way. if i had my own way i,d give them{zb} all, then they,d all sit in dover waiting for a truck to calais.

to sort out the problem in France you would have to be a french politician, I can’t vote in the French elections

Guys i know what you are all saying and ive taken it onboard im still in the early stages of looking into standing so i know its not something thats going to happen overnight(would i get a night out for that).

I understand that illegals should be returned to the country of entry which is any between france and well anywhere else in bloody europe but if france would do their bit as regards returning the illegals from whence they came we wouldnt have the problems that we have everytime we come back to our shores by whichever method.

Im looking into both being an MP or an MEP so lets see where it goes and Neville i will expect your vote as your close to me

good luck in your quest kerwyn.
as ros pointed out,you will need to stand in your own constituancy.
i see you are based in kent, you should have no problem there, the first county they arrive in.
i am wondering,is kent alive in the middle of the night like calais, the leeches hiding in the bushes?
this in mind,i am thinking the natives of kent must be peed off with them as well,so you should have no bother getting up and running.
if you are sucessful[which i hope you are]
will you send your brother to dublin,we have gutless politicians over in dublin who are welcoming this vermin into ireland.
i myself would love to do something like this, but dont know where to start.
good luck to you kerwyn.

Hi,

Immigrants are just one of many issues that need addressing. What is needed is a new group to represent UK transport operators and drivers, The RHA and FTA are totally useless, well almost, the RHA shop does sell reasonably priced CMRs. What happened to the recent fuel protest groups ? ( was it transaction?) Did the government (ie: VOSA) silence them?
Governments all over europe seem to be under the impression that transport companies have unlimited funds with the charges imposed on us for using their roads ie 59.90 euros for St Omer - Paris. My weekly toll bill is around £250 a week in France.
Truck parking is another issue. Ashford is now £25 a night and this is totally unacceptable in my opinion, but then even the MSAs are £15 - £23 per night with no security. My trailer got slashed in 2 places in Reading services last week. Why do we accept these high prices for parking?
Next is fuel prices. I can reclaim fuel duty on diesel bought in France, Belgium and Italy so why can’t our own government offer UK transport operators a similar scheme to help keep us in business. I don’t personally believe Brown views transport as a business as in the same week he is on radio spouting about the help he is giving for small business he is adding 8.5p on a gallon of fuel. Some help.
I could go on but my stress levels are rising again just thinking about it.
Is there anyone out there who would like the challenge of starting a group which hopefully in time would be loud enough to be heard where it matters and one that represents the small haulier not just the wincantons and stobarts of the transport world. This would be more of a benefit to the transport industry than an independant mep alone. That said good luck anyway as every little helps.

Graham

I think we need to stand behind Peter Carroll. at last someone has said to the powers above what I have been telling people for years.

Although this is in the link that I posted.
Peter Carroll was the man who started the campaign to help the Gurkas, Joanna Lumley helped him finish it

He was also the man heavily involved in Transaction

There is no-one in the cabinet who understands the plight of the UK road transport industry. Through Seymour and Astran, he may have a voice about national and international haulage.

Throughout my memory the transport post has always been the last one to be filled by someone, a sort of favour or promise from the leadership or the premier.

In my lifetime these are the 31 ministers who have held the post. Although some have held it more than once. Who remembers them and for what?
