A34 Northbound, 1 mile before M40. Just needed to stop for a 30 break but no spaces…could have been, but this was in the way
I Understand the Message behind this picture, but is there not a better method of getting it across Something safer and that does`nt involve pinching a parking space
How about Truckpol and The Transport Industry ( The Trailers Sponsors ) Campaigning for more, better / secure parking
Couple of things do spring to mind though.
Didn`nt think you could leave an un-hitched trailer in a lay-by without lights ?
Thought that even hitched-up, when parked in a lay-by, you had to have parking lights on if the road had a speed limit over 30.
Get some Police officers out of the station driving cars near the hotspots !!! Dead simple really, they could even use the kid on coppers if need be the community something or other ones.
Or provide somewhere to park securely for the first time ever in this country !!!.
Quinny:
Most unusual for one of those trailers not to have lights on,as the ones I’ve always seen, have side lights on at dark times.
Think they must have some internal batteries to power them, which probably re-charge when the trailer is moved.
Ken.
Went past it 3 days running, diddly squat - no lights, have seen one on the A14 with lights before now though…shame no coppers around to check on their trailer or the others, loaded and parked up, vunerable to theft etc maybe they thought the trailer would scare off all the crims and pikeies all on it`s own
I think the Dibbles are trying to help us here, if you were that concernd and you were 1 mile from M40 you could of reached Cherwell Valley and parked there for the night?
The trailers,I think are a good idea, they give Non-local drivers an idea of how safe it is or not in this case to park.
If I do park in a layby I never have my lights left on all night.
A case of damned if they do and damned if they don’t…

…and if i was going M40 south, id have gone to Welly Break at Oxford, if id enough drive time left. Maybe the trailers are a good idea, if you could see them.
In this day and age though I think whether you`re a local or not, you should, by now, be aware that all lay-bys are hot-spots for truck crime.
The Dibbles could help us more, by catching more of the scum that carry out the crimes and locking the buggers up for meaningful lengths of time, but that would mean the government investing a little bit more on training real bizzies, instead of Community Babylons. Rant over - no offence Deepinvet.

Every time i have seen it , it has had lights working on it. Forget asking or wanting ‘Truckpol’ anything. Its name might suggest it is the ‘truck police’ ? No. It’s nothing more than a website, i think it has one copper operating the bits that a copper can do without uniform…i.e liasing with ‘sponsors’ the people who pay money to join the scheme. And what does the scheme give ya for ya dosh? Leaflets and ‘advice’ like tell your drivers not to stop for anyone and hold a card up to say “i’ll follow you to the nearest police station” etc… Montgomerys who have just had a load of ■■■■ nicked obviously arn’t members or if they are they havn’t passed the info on to the driver!! Then they have a section to say always check the identity of your drivers picking up high value loads, especially agency drivers etc… and other such rivetting stuff. Oh !! They also shove that trailer in ‘known hotspots’, its sure a hell of a lot cheaper than sending coppers that we pay for to patrol the areas !! As you can tell i’m one of Truckpols biggest fans !!! They also produce ‘stats’ !! Statistics of HGV crime from across the UK, then they openly admit that the stats are practically useless as not all forces submit the data they need or want. So its basically as useless organisation. If i made a website called “mickpol” and reported a few crimes like they do it would be as much use !! I just need to get a copper to front it for me like Truckpol , and get some sponsor money from DHL and the like and i’m in the money too !! Ok, rant over as you where !!

I could not agree with you more.
As a side note I do play Rugby with quite a few and my best mate is a custody sgt and I do know that thy are just as ■■■■■■ off as we are, the majority of times their hands are tied by the cps.
