I thought I'd use the Armco round the edge of the yard

To stop me before I backed into the building :open_mouth:. Apart from that minor mis- hap, the week’s gone well in the new job. It’s a steady old job with no real pressure, or hassle, no “can you just mate” - job and finish, with a spot on company and an office who can’t do enough to help :open_mouth:.

4 trips a day, Coalville - Long Eaton. Arrive at destination (commanly known as a [zb] hole, because you have to pull a trailer out and dump it on the road, put another one in, pick the one that’s sitting on the road up and shoot back off to Coalville. I can tell you now, I’ve got my trailer swaps down to a fine art .

Do that 3 times a day and go up to a worse [zb] hole solo, again in Long Eaton.

Pick up a standing trailer. Turn right out of the yard it’s been dumped in, out into their car park (can’t turn left, 'cause you’ll hit the wall with the back of the trailer), spin round (I hope no one decides to park in the middle of the car park, as that’ll stuff me for turning round) and away to sit in traffic at around 17-00 out of Long Eaton. If you want to be cheeky, nip out the back way (tight, but no weight limits or bridges) and avoid it . Back to the yard for 17-45, finished for 18-00/18-30 if the vehicle needs a wash. Just don’t leave your suzies tangled up, as you’ll get a right roasting the following day . Fair comment I guess.

All in all, seems to me like a good job with fair money and a really good company. Ask me again when I’ve been out with the Wagon and Drags proper . For now, I’m quite happy, ecstatic even.

The only thing I don’t like about it, is the fact that you take your break with 1.5 hours of driving done. Wiping out your first period with that on the cards just doesn’t seem right to me, but still .

since when did bosses start to tell driver’s when to take break’s. ( if that’s what your saying here) you take your break’s as and when you require them, generally fitting round your drop’s.

I thought that was what the armco was for :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:   .

You could always put it onto POA after 44 minutes, leaving you with a 15 minute break to make up your 45 minutes at your later convenience. :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

The routes seem to be planned to almost the munite (let’s face it, they’ve been running them for long enough, they should have their acts togeather by now ), I’ve been taking a 15 later in the day, so in effect keeping my driving up, but not using the POA. TBH, it didn’t cross my mind. Thanks for reminding me Simon.

Having said that, they think it’s work, rest work, drive and I’m quite happy with a 48 hour working week, so why disabuse them of the notion .

I am glad its going well for you Liberace and you are enjoying the job  .
