The sign says “oczekuj pornocy”. I have no idea what “pornoc” is, but I hope it is a new Polish word created from joining words “■■■■■” which means, as you can guess easily “■■■■” and “noc” which means night.
So if you are Polish and go to Crewe, you can expect the whole night of ■■■■ (and I guess it will be some ■■■■ variant since there are “kolczatki” there, which means spiky belts… ).
Seriously though, you can send even the shortest texts to interpreting agency which then send a bulk of such things to interpreter and returns it to you next day. It cost few eurocents per word… If for some reason they want to make signs in Polish, why they can’t do it properly (or at least ask some Polish person if it sounds all right)?

I agree…and with so many nationalities in the uk, either they should learn to read english…or translate into every language we have over here, and then the road gets blocked anyway…with all the signs

The sign should not say that at all, they should all be in English!
I agree wholeheartedly aren,t they supposed to be getting rid of excess street furniture health and safety,now they,re back pandering to our foreign cousins yet again,and we will end up paying for these signs not the foreigners!!!
When I was in France last year I had to to a hospital and found that instead of all the languages we have here on all the signs (arabic/hindi/pakistani/polish/latvianetc etc etc the signs were all in French! No surprise really as they just stick their two fingers up to everyone else - just like we should.

Because according to popular opinion here Polish drivers are idiots and they can’t drive when there are signs with writing in English. I have to say it’s funny that at least once you have to pay for having that bad opinion about Poles (because it’s not their taxes these signs are funded from)

seems strange that the local council (yeah I’m from Crewe) have got it wrong when there is one of the largest Polish communities in the UK living and working in Crewe. There has been since WW2 when a lot were given refuge here following the German invasion. There has been a massive influx in the last few years and some factories in the area are more Polish than English, but to be fair they were struggling to find workers a few years back.

The funny bit is that English sign says “Road Closed” and Polish sign not. Does it mean that this road is for Polish only? (that would explain the spike belt things, they are propably not liked there )
There is a certain amount of hostility from the usual quarters, (long term unemployed that havent had a job since 1976 but the Polish have all come over and nicked our work ) but in the main they have integrated well. probably helps that some are in the 5th generation of the family living here.
Most of the work they are doing wasnt wanted anyway (packing and processing stuff) , we have a few working at our place 3 drivers, 1 yard worker, and a few packing in the warehouse.
In the town there is at least 6 or 7 Polski Sklep (shops)probably nearer 10 now I think about it , a Polish take-away, a Polish workingmans club( established in about 1950 I think and still going strong).and …let me think…yeah lots of fit women

yeah, I know, I was only joking. Good friends of mine leave there for 7 or 8 years now (they used to live in Crewe, now they moved to Nantwich) and they are happy there and say that local folks are friendly, altough they had some troubles with local neds - but that can happen everywhere. I guess for this kind of people it does not matter if you are Polish or Black or ginger or fat - it’s just matters that you are different
I have to say that local Polish community seems to be better integrated than here in Scotland - for example local Polish papers are dealing much more with local issues. The Polish community in Glasgow is more enclosed (altough I am not really dealing much with main stem of Polish community here).
What I also like that there are links, as you noticed, between “old” and “new” emigration. In Glasgow the old ■■■■■ sit in their Sikorski club and look at all newcomers from above (while still milking money from Polish Foreign Ministry by posing as a true kernel of the Polish cultural life in Scotland). I think that this old hands living here since war can be a good bridge between newcomers and local community.
