i scarr and sons

does anyone remember i scarr and son based in brayton near selby?
my old man drove for them in the late sixties early seventies.they have been
gone a few years now seem to remember they ran seddon atkies and a couple of aec:s

i remember scarrs dark blue seddon atkinsons and i think they bought one of campeys fodens when they finished in 1985. anybody remember them,loads of old blue fodens from thorpe willoughby near selby. i think scarrs finished in the late eighties the firm i now work for bought one of there tautliners when they finished

I vaguely remember Scarrs and H.Campey’s Fodens even better.
There was another haulier from that area - Camblesforth springs to mind - they ran a lot of tippers,but the name escapes me. :confused:

Alfred Sykes,that’s him and do you remember Mooney and Morley from Selby?
They had quite a big fleet at one time,are they still running do you know?

yes i remember moonys our yard is next door to where theres was my grandad drove for them for 40 years

they finished about 4 years ago but they was running under the name selby storage & distribution

Well glad to know they are still going even though under a different name.
I got to know one of their drivers in 1969,we stayed in the same digs on London Road Carlisle,and both parked in BRS Parcels yard.It was the first time I tasted beer from a state-owned brewery in a big boozer (Red Lion ?) in the town.We met on the thursday going north and the friday coming south,same digs.Can’t remember his name,but a good night on the friday as we only had to run home on saturday. :laughing:

Is it that cold in Selby to be called Arctic Monkey or do you like Sheffield groups? :slight_smile:

Oh aye,just noticed it’s artic not arctic,sorry :unamused:
Back then i drove for C.H.Preston,Sheffield.Had an Albion Reiver and a Leyland Badger,it was my first driving job when I came out of the RAF in 1968.

the good old days, a wee bit before my time though
