Other makes are available, but the Volvo I-save gives me a generic option with this technology
If I`m in a non i-save on CC @ 56 and under weight heading towards an incline, and one of these starts to make an attempt to pass me, but fails towards the top of the incline due to the tech cutting in, am I supposed to back off and let i-save man back in, when he has only just got his drive axle level with my cab, baring in mind that this option would seriously effect my momentum which would take an age to regain ?
I had it twice yesterday and both drivers gave me the full Kelsa light show as I carried on up & over, baring in mind I`m heavy and my weight gives me an advantage going down the otherside until their tech takes over again, one of these was either empty or very light and the other was loaded by the looks of the seals on the back.
On a personal note, Im not bothered when I let someone out on a slip road & they tare-arse off, Im quite relaxed about it, it doesnt bother me, but these two were different gravy & its got me thinking if it`s not the done thing to tare-arse off
I’d say that it’s not incumbent upon you to back off at all. Anyone using a vehicle with this tech in use should be expecting their vehicle to shut off the power and should therefore be ready to manually intercede by applying the throttle themselves. If they aren’t smart enough to do that then imo it’s their problem and not yours.

TBF, that`s my interpretation, but to get two in one shift got me thinking is it me

Oh no…agree again.
It is up to an overtaking vehicle to maintain speed.
I wouldn`t pull out to overtake a slower, but empty, flatbed just before a hill if I was freighted.
If the overtaking truck actually throttles back then that is the drivers responsibility.
Not the truck designer, computor programmer, nor an office bod talking about fuel economy.
An decent driver will soon know what his truck will do, if that is to back off the gas that he should make choices knowing that:
either don`t start the overtake, or override the cruise and boot it.

This!
Mine has i-see, I think you should be able to turn it off on a motorway or dual carriageway, you always have to be aware if you’ve trucks behind you happily at the same speed to press the accelerator in those situations when you know the truck will shut off, but obviously you miss a few, so as that’s my fault I drop my speed so the truck who then started to overtake me can easily pass.
I wanted it so the truck would get a run on a hill, drop a gear if necessary and make informed gear selections on hills, I think you should be able to adjust its parameters, Volvo changed mine from dropping 10, think it was km/h to 5km/h when I 1st got it, but I can only adjust the overrun speed. But I’m not that impressed as it goes slightly faster before some hills and is too eco focused in standard mode never mind eco mode, that it always defaults to when started, and Volvo won’t change it to start in standard mode, despite the book saying they can.
When I was training for my test I recall being told that overtaking is the complete responsability of the one doing the overtaking. If the manoeuvre doesn’t go as planned you rely on the good will of fellow road users. Good luck with that in many cases.
If I’m overtaking and run out of steam for whatever reason I just slot back in behind. Drivers getting irate over people not slowing down is stupid. Plus if they had half a brain they’d have expected that and turned CC off and kept foot down. It’s simply poor driving on their part imo

and what if you cant get back in because some moron has come up behind and sees that the truck on the inside is going faster than the overtaking truck so because he hasn’t got a few seconds to wait he goes behind the truck on the left and leaves the overtaking truck stuck in lane 2 for even longer .

To be fair I’ve rarely been in that situation driving mostly 750’s But if I was I stick indicator on the moment I realise what’s happened.
Not sure what you’re talking about, if it’s the ‘switches to neutral before descent’ tech then it’s not my responsibility for other vehicles. If I’m the one overtaking then I’ll put my foot down to prevent it from kicking in - I don’t expect the other vehicles to slow down for me on an uphill
