i pad2

hi can i run my i pad off the 12 volt…with just the usb supplyed …sorry if in wrong section…cheers

usb power is 5v… if you plugged your ipad right up to a 12v supply it would just fry it… would be like plugging a 12v starter motor into the mains in your house… not a good idea. If you get a 12v ciggy lighter adapter for ipad, ipod etc, you will be able to charge it that way, it will step down the power to 5v.

your better off buying an inverter, for what a decent car charger cost pay a little bit extra and buy an inverter, you will only need the smallest 1 they have, I’ve bought loads of car chargers they never last long. Plus will charge it faster.

Sent from my iPad but adjusted even more to ■■■■ winseer off.

You can get a 12v/USB charger for a couple of quid if you look around. Poundstretcher and the like usually have them.

I got a decent USB charger from Argos, Belkin (£9.99)
It’s just the little bit that goes on outlet and you plug your apple USB lead into it, had no probs

I got something like that from ebay, 1.12, free postage

I’ve had 12v chargers from poundland and ebay. they might keep your ipad turned on, but they certainly won’t give it anything of a charge… hate to say it, but you get what you pay for.

Yeah, because if they are not original apple ones, the power they give is less electric

You may joke but actually the iPad needs quite a lot of power to charge and for some reason the cheaper adaptors won’t provide it. I’ve got several, one will charge my iPhone (slowly) but not my iPad. The best you can buy in my opinion and the charge both phone and iPad a lot quicker are the new TomTom ones. £20 but worth the money. I don’t think Apple actually make car chargers.

Maplin sell an iPad charging kit, branded ‘Logic3’, that includes a spare mains adapter as well as a 12/24v USB adapter which works fine.

I am joking, but seriously you just should check what’s the power on the output and choose the one you need. The voltage is always the same (since it’s USB standard). Mine ebay ones charges my camera, which also requires a lot of energy.

Indeed you should check, as I didn’t thinking they were all the same.

This is what i use ebay.co.uk/itm/DUAL-USB-CAR- … 2846wt_752 ,ive had no problem with it, charges both my ipad and iphone at the same time and its only a couple of quid.

I got something liek that but only one USB socket in it

Hello
The ipad mains charger is 2 amp. A friend says his ipad was faulty when it would’nt charge from a usb on his laptop. the usb on his computer will supply 5v just not enough amps
Phone, camera and other items all use 5volt and all adapters should be rated at that, its the amps that a ipad needs so buy one that was made for that as most after market usb addapters only go up tyo a max of 1 amp.

Ps. I am not a electrician, it is only what I have read up on.

Jaydee.

Check you lot out wae your ipads, boss sees you with them and he’ll think he is paying you too much!!
