I need a new inverter

My inverter has bit the dust.
It lasted two years,I don’t know if that’s good or bad, probably not that good.
It’s made by ring and a new one (24v 2000w) will set me back a minimum of just over £300.
Has anyone got experience of buying one of the cheaper inverters on eBay.
You get what you pay for,so I’m dubious about buying one.
It’s just for running a microwave mainly.

Before you buy a new inverter, take the cover off the one you have and check that the internal fuse hasn’t failed, they are normally a simple plug-in blade fuse and they do tend to fail over time. If it’s not that, I have an unused 3000w 24v inverter at home that has never been out of the box, you can have it for £50 plus the postage.

ring is just chineese crap painted a diff colour with a ring sticker…buy the biggest wattage you can afford then it wont melt so quick.

Ok Harry.

Where do I send the cheque?

Ok.
You could have a point.

By the way,it hasn’t completely stopped, but it’s not putting out enough power.
If I strike up the motor on fast tickover it helps.
Seriously, pm me about you’re inverter.

I’m away from home at the moment but I can get my girlfriend to dig it out tomorrow and post it to you if you want. As I say, it’s never been out of the box so you can fit it and test it before you send the money. It is big and heavy so I imagine postage will be £20 or so. I’ll be talking to her tomorrow so I’ll see if she can find it.

Ok,thanks.

Hope you don’t mind an opinion from a noob trucker who’s only been class one for just over a week, but I have done a little electrical work. Sounds like the batteries are not holding their charge, or the alternator is not working as well as it could, especially as it “helps” when on fast tickover. You may like to get it checked in the workshop, or you could check the inverter and microwave in another truck?
Good luck, anyway.

I’m selling a new one, never been fired up. All details in items for sale forum here. If you still need one, that is.

Thanks to the two replies,I missed them.
I ended up buying yet another ring inverter,as I have gotten used to the convenience of convenience foods.
I had two new batteries fitted to the truck whilst I was on holiday,as the sparkie thought the batteries were the problem.
It’s a 60 plate actros, and still on the original batteries.
When I next pass Tamworth I’m going to drop my old inverter off at a repairer and see if it’s economical to sort it out, then I shall have a spare.
Bugger about the one for sale though.

Top marks Mr Monk.

A gentleman is amongst us.

To Harry Monk I have sent a pm to you about your inverter, al.

I’ve asked my girlfriend to have a look for it but she hasn’t been able to find it so far. I’ll have a look when I get home but that probably won’t be until late September.

Ok thanks Harry speak to you then regards Al.
