I must learn to look for signs and not rely on office :-D

At fleet services,
Got up at 0215 this morning thinking this wouldn’t happen…shop staff said yesterday afternoon they’re closing slip road but very confused and sketchy on details…a man came into shop and said slip road closing tonight at 2200 not opening until 6am…yeah right!

Yep he was…supposedly missed signs according to site staff and my office staff didn’t find it either.

Lol,
can’t you get out through the service road ?

Nah im a diddy wide load 3 2m wide.
But supposedly opening in a few mins!

Hey Martin,

How are you doing bud…

Asked same question…saw only 1 fridge motor go out…they didn’t think id make it between barriers. Fair enough their infrastructure.

Also never been a fan of smashing up other people’s stuff trying to get out and round places!

Quietest night ever in services even the fridges were!

Forgot to say still using the dolly knot in this game every now and again

I’m doing good, thanks.
See you’ve progressed from a rigid to class 1 heavy haulage, well done mate. Kept that quiet ?

Looks like your having fun.

Ha ha, bet you hav’nt used a Dolly on that Machine.

Yep October 2013.

All I’ve been doing since I got my Class 1 is low loaders and some bulker work on dead days…but just moved to this new company…much better.

Other company was working me to death so hadn’t had time to update progress will do soon of my time there.

Yeah as much as a dolly knot would be fun to secure it with…I doubt other road users would agree

Don’t they normally have a van sat waiting to ■■■■■■ those that were there on a rest period? Seen it at Warwick nb one night when the M40 was closed for roadworks between the 2 junctions

Nope no official ■■■■■■ provided.

Told by main site foreman in the polite way tough ■■■■…signs were up to say closed and only pre booked STGO loads can be escorted through with their permission and site ■■■■■■…not sure how true that is though sounds a bit bull ■■■■…

As the loads are declared min 48 hours before going on the road, within reason you would have thought the routes would be pre-determined to avoid roadworks etc…bar emergency roadworks.

A fridge left the parking area went up to signs, turned round and I presume went through service road unless they drove down M3 wrong way… Hence I asked if I could attempt same at garage.

When I woke up more had joined us, but no other bays that were occupied when I rocked in, had made an attempt to move away…it was if they knew

And I was legal to move from 0230 the rest were there before me and may have been able to move before me but decided they didn’t need too or could even move.

I had 3 behind me at 0345 asking me when it was opening…like I knew…I said supposedly they have permit to remain closed until 0600, which site foreman had told to me.
2 of our brethren got excited with me about that like it was my fault…most probably their synapses saw a piece of plant on board put 2+2 together and made a million and thought i was somehow responsible for their delay.

The 3rd guy shrugged his shoulders and said its happened to him before and said give me a beep when I started to roll.

Perhaps this contractor was cost cutting hence didn’t put on the Traffic Management ■■■■■■.

Cost me 2 hours 15 mins waiting time.

Good job the load was urgent and we was in a hurry :smiling_imp:

C

I wouldn’t ever ask to leave by the service road, as I think the default answer will be no, unless there was a barrier or gate that needed opening, I’d be gone.

I know what you mean owner account driver but when its an “unknown private road” with a wideish load its never wise to just charge in and hope for the best!

That’s the quickest way to end up on here being called a zb for smashing ■■■■ up or blocking the road to others  or even being world famous on You Tube.

But I guess that’s exactly what the fridge dude did.

 Fair play to him he could reasonably.

I’ll have to check on Google what the access routes are like at Fleet now.
