And it wasn’t that bad. To anyone new concerned about it it’s just a little more busy. I just took it nice and slow and didn’t give a flying ■■■■ if was holding anyone up. If there in such a rush then next time they should set off sooner as far as I’m concerned.
Just a question, I turned left into one road and after I’d gone half way round the turn I saw a sign saying 18T limit, then a load of times under it. I wasn’t going to stop in the road to read it and I’d already started turning so my only other option would have been to reverse back out of the junction. Which is a bit crap anyway, how do they expect us to not go in a limit if there is no warning of it until you’ve already passed the point of no return?! Anyway, would the times have been to do with that London lorry ban thing that generally apply over night?
Google earth is your friend. Without knowing where you were we will never know.
Well done on being a virgin
Tomorrow you can be a prostitute and ■■■■■ everyone off
Yes it was most probably to do with the lorry ban. It’s quite common for the signs to be ‘around the corner’ but there are usually signs on the approach to the junction with an arrow showing that the upcoming turn has restrictions. The problem there’s so much other street furniture and with trying to keep your eyes open for all the other hazards they are often easy to miss.
not driven in London for years . late 70,s early 80,s. before all the restrictions came in. ■■■ loved it, staples corner to burroughs montford place , the pilgrim pub on the corner, kennington, tip, over to Islington to load gordons gin. back out up Holloway rd. loved London but hated the m1.
As said Rowley it was almost certainly the LLC ban so don’t worry. As for it being busy, don’t forget it’s the Easter holidays so traffic trough town is light at the moment, and when it’s like it is now, London really is a joy to drive through.
Next week, you might not find the same run so nice
I do tend to find that the people that moan about driving in London, and insist on telling you how bad it is, are the ones who haven’t been there for a million years, or at all. I go in regularly and once you get to know bits and pieces, and a few places and generally how the place works it’s easy, and the traffic even if bad in some spots, you can learn your way around it quickly.
I’m still a bit sketchy south of the river, but I rarely need a sat nav for North London, just the nearest A or B road and I’ve probably got 2/3 routes depending on time or traffic on the day.
This restriction sign on the A 205 south circular outside Forest Hill Station has always annoyed me. AFAIK there is no reason for it other than the lorry route ban, but it reads 16.5 tonnes, so it is years out of date. Also the information notice giving times, which was there originally is missing, presumably because the local mayor at one time lived along the road and didn’t want it put back again .
In London everyone is in a mad rush to go nowhere special, they drive like Doctors on an emergency call out.
I used to find the car and van drivers hooting and shouting abuse annoying, but got used to it now .
You can spend all day looking at the top posh hot totty .
