What are all the bits of plastic / plate stuck all round the front bumpers on some ( seems a fair few ) stobart scanias , it must be too do with aero - dynamics , but it looks such a bodge , like a badly made body kit .
Same as aero kit on some of the tris , you’ve got the under run bars stuck over the aero kit , can’t believe its been designed like that , just looks like someones decided too save a few pounds and knocked it up in a shed .
Trucks look terrible
I kept meaning to ask if anyone knew this too. Looks stupid, and as you say, its as if an amateur has fabricated and fitted the flaps.
Found a photo on flickr of one with the offending flaps

That’s what I’m on about Damoq , ta mate
Probably there to protect the step from getting a bashing…
Some ■■■■ wit in the office who occasionally needs to justify his salary, needed to come up with something…
Also I know what you mean with the trailers Dozy. It’s as if someone has crashed into the side of trailer and damaged the side skirts, then someone had put a new side guards over the top of it and just left it the way it was. Looks as silly as the sideburns on the scanias.[emoji3]
Stobart claim it reduces up to 33% on drag compared to vehicles without any aero dynamic kits resulting lower CO2 emissions per journey.
All down to saving money thru aerodynamics, that kit would possibly save 50 pence per week in fuel saving but take 37 years of 18 hours per day on the road at max speed to get their money back, so makes good sense for the bean counters

Do you believe anything that bunch of armholes tells you ■■?
so the Londona Cyclists dont slip under your Wheels , perhaps

I would’ve though the designer had Dozy in mind, especially when it comes to dot com vans & deliveries
Doesn’t look very aerodynamic to my eye.
Anyway I assume they’ve had it in a air tunnel and it works. Or maybe they own the company that makes it and it’s a big tax fiddle

Stobart in fraudulent tax fiddle scheme.
Surely not.
Many years ago when I worked for the flying “W” they brought in one of these university graduates who was on their management fast track program. This guy meticulously analysed the fuel figures etc and set about trying to improved them. This included the idea of adding aerodynamic skirt kits to the trucks & trailers saving around £100-£200 per year in fuel. But the idiot neglected to point out that the skirt kits cost around £1000 to fit to each truck. Needless to say when the management saw the figures he was swiftly relocated to the chill warehouse for some hands on order picking analysis
I have that crap on mine and i think it does nothing.I had mine on for 3 days and it got damaged because its sits that low its scuffs on everything.
They’ve put them on a new wagon that’s based in the container yard in Widnes. All that aerodynamic rubbish and then you put a 20 foot container on the back of it!
Waste of time!

I came back from a 4 week holiday to find it hand been fitted to my Scania. It bottomed out on that little slope on the way out of south mimms. Also when it scraped on the ground the top part of one of the side bits came off, that’s when I found out it’s only held on by double sided tape
They will soon be off if they start putting them on the units u are using on building site work with some of the sites we do 1 especially comes to mind I’ve been on this week which I wouldn’t want to take a unit on that is close to the ground with the lumps bumps pot holes and lakes !

Immigrant, strangely enough, has probably got the answer.
Those side guards on the trailer will be to appease the London cyclist lobby.
Just noticed something else. What’s with the Arla branding on that trailer?
