I just don't get it

so,After month upon month upon month of delays a little stretch of the m60 appears to be complete. Eastbound from Heywood to Oldham the road traffic sign says END OF ROADWORKS…SO WHY ARE WE ALL STILL TRAVELLING AT 50MPH? i can understand the need for the westbound side to have a limit of 50mph as we are driving into roadworks. But eastbound? whats it all about Alfie

On the westbound side at the approach to J20 there’s a bright yellow sign that the Highways Agency kindly put up which explains that the limit is still 50MPH for testing purposes. I’ve not done eastbound for some time on that stretch as I got fed up of the whole lot of it on nights so coming back from Runcorn I go M56 and come out at J20 so don’t know if there’s one there but I expect there might be and the reason is the same.

I can only assume they’re using it to test that the signage works over a prolonged period and so do the cameras.

Not finished yet. There’s still lane/complete closures on that stretch in both directions.

It doesn’t help that the sign they’ve used to let you know why is the same as all the other yellow signs so mostly go ignored.
